Hi folks,
Matteo here.
Who am I?

A slender, relaxed and young (or maybe not so much anymore?!) human, born and raised in Italy, who started travelling a few years ago and haven't really stopped since then.

What am I good at?
I have passion for and experience with cooking (professionally and as a hobby), I have decent carpentry skills and I am capable and creative when it comes to general maintenance.
I also love to create my own crafts, usually wooden lamps, but you give me some tools and some scrap material and I can go nuts.

Other skills?
I am a good listener, I have a lot of patience and I like radically honest and mature communication. I'm able to take responsibility for my actions&words (most of the time ;)

Hobbies?
Guitar and singing, gardening (most recently I spent 10 months volunteering in a community garden), dancing and bathing/swimming.

I spent 4 years working as a blacksmith. I have confidence using both power tools and hand tools, knowledge about how to build, set up and finish different craftworks (mostly windows, doors and other kinds of fixtures). With a little practice I'm sure I can get back to a decent welding level.

I then moved to hospitality and restaurants, working around 7 years in that world. I spent time in contact with the public and far from it, in the dark recesses of the kitchens (2 years as a waiter and 5 as a cook). I have experience mostly with Italian and Vietnamese/Thai cooking, to which I want to add a more personal (hobby) experience with vegetarian and vegan cooking.

I would also like to include shorter time experiences for:
Stagehand - rigging for concerts and events, 1 year
Full-time volunteering in a community garden, 10 months
Carpentry school, 8 months

As I'm writing this now, I find myself in Tuscany, running a mountain shelter with the support of a good friend of mine, welcoming guests, cleaning and cooking.

I can speak fluent Italian and English, intermediate Spanish and basic Norwegian
