Hello everybody :)
My name's Marino, i was born in Italia. I grew up in a small village on the mountains in the north of Italia. I've always been in direct contact with nature and since a young age i've been learning how to care of gardens and vegetables garden from my grandmother teachings, chopping firewood, helping in the house in normal daily tasks.
I've studied in the electric field at high school and after i've worked for the government in the power line and the services that provide electricity in the houses. At one point in my life lead from my passione, curiosity of the world and self development i decided to start discovering the world, to meet new cultures and learn new skills.
I've been working in Asia in a yoga retreat, such a wonderful experience, where i was doing mostly housekeeping, cooking and small maintenance jobs.
I've been working in Spain in a Permaculture Ecoproject for some months, there i was working as a carpenter on building new structures, as a gardener in a huge veggies garden and i've been doing some small electrical jobs such as wiring and install new lights in some of the rooms.
I'm currently in Australia, where i had the possibility to work in another Permaculture project and i learn heaps of new skills as a carpenter and builder.
At the moment i'm in working as a landscaper for an environmental conservation company located in Victoria.

I'm quite a smart guy, who loved to learn, share and live life.
I like simplicity and my hobbies are sports, book reading, cooking and having good connections with others.

Well, firstly i have to say that this review is made by my singular human's perspective and it is not conditioned by any other thought of others. I'm doing that to help the hosts and you workawayers to have more clarity about this place, the works, how things works ecc.
First of all, I wanna thank you again with Patrick and David the hosts of the… read more Finca to give us the opportunity to stay, work, grow in this place, for me it was for 2 months, from January to March.
The accourancy of what they explain in the profile is 100% correct, plus you might have a call with Patrick or David to know better yourselves and talk about your work skills or just ask others questions. So when you will arrive at the Finca you will know already a lot. That's pretty good I think.
I had the opportunity to do different job : I worked as a carpenter helping Roque and Carmelo two workers in the Finca, making the water tank that is now completed. Then help to make the fire pit (actually I just dug the hole and brought stones with the wheelbarrow) but if you enjoy the fire is a little bit also for my help 😉
Then i could help making some electric jobs when was needed, help a bit Mitch building a knew kitchen, the cool thing of that is that is made just with pallet woods. Then I worked in the garden and i really loved it. You do weeding, planting, and just taking care of the garden that is actually very huge.
The cool things for me was that there are always projects going on and if are willing to help you can whatever, of course it's a job, so they will see if you're skills are ok with the job, firstly also for your safety, then because the job should be done in a nice way. But what I think is that if you put you're commitment in what you do, you're willing to learn and to say: "ok I don't know, can you help me?" you are in the right place. Nobody is perfect but for that there is the most special thing (for me) in the Finca: the people, the community. I met incredible people, some very different from me, some similar, but this was so important to me, I build collaboration, I learned something from everybody, sharing, working together. It depends how much you'll be, it can be a number from 10 to 20, for me was incredible all the time. And this doesn't mean that I was in comfort all the time, I felt discomfort sometimes, but I think this was very important to me and it shows me a lot of part of myself that I was hiding.
Anyway, to be clear, if you think to go in a 5stars hotel, you hate be dirty, you hate being around people and animals, you are not willing to work, you're not in the right place. As I said nobody is perfect, this place isn't, Patrick and David aren't, me neither. But this is good, we can grow together, so if you have feedback give your feedback, if you can help, help, but don't judge things before of have done it.
Thank you again to everybody that made my experience so special at the Finca, I hope you'll grow and learn about what happened and will happen.
This is quite long, so I'm gonna finish it.
I hope you workawayers will find the comfort in the discomfort, learn new things, help the hosts to see things they miss, and especially enjoy your stay at the Finca.
