Hi everyone, I'm Marieke, A 30-year-old Belgian girl who likes to smile, meet people, have meaningful conversations and learn from others. I studied pedagogical science and I have a teachers degree in history, geography and culture science. I worked a few years in an amazing school where I could fulfill my passion and teach my students something more about the world, the environment and other cultures. But the more I learned about these subjects, the more I realized I lacked the hands-on experience to transfer this important information.I have a big heart for nature and the environment, they gave me so much energy when I went traveling. So now I have the feeling I want to do something back.

Honestly, I don't think I have any special skills. I'm not specifically good at languages, I don't know enough about sustainability to find a way to protect nature at home and I'm not great with computers. But I am a really optimistic, positive and honest person with a big sense of adventure and a good working attitude. I'm motivated to learn new skills from passionate people and to take their advice and life knowledge with me. I love nature, gardening, cooking, educating children and nurturing animals. I will try to do your interesting projects with all my heart and my full motivation.

What else ...
I will start my journey at the beginning of July in Malaysia and I will stay for at least six months in Asia. That's all I have planned for now. I really want to try to travel as free as I can and to be guided by the people I meet and the adventures I experience. So It's difficult to say in advance when I will be in a certain area or at a certain place. Or even how long I will stay. But if I make an agreement with someone, I will make sure I'm there.

I stayed for two weeks in the travelers lodge and it was a great experience! Aaron and his crew are so nice, they treated me like a friend and made sure I felt comfortable at any moment.
