Scotland, United Kingdom - from May 2024 until Dec 2024 View allDescription
I am Portuguese and I've been living in the UK for near 10 years, where I've worked as a carer providing care to different groups of people in several organisations since 2012.
I have settled status (indefinite leave to enter and remain) given by the UK Home Office. I can provide the legal document if required.
I had the opportunity to be a co-worker for nearly 8 months in a community committed to sustainability in Scotland in 2009, where I was introduced to a team of volunteers that worked in a walled organic garden. This experience was really the beginning of my awareness and interest to learn more about organic agriculture and gardening.
Consequently, I've also developed a strong interest in Garden Photography and connection with the natural world.
I also joined the WWOOF's community (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms) and was a volunteer during two months in 2010 at Poyntzfield Herb Nursery in the Black Isle (Inverness), a medicinal herbal garden that specializes in the cultivation of herb plants and seeds using organic and biodynamic principles, and at Culdees eco village also in the Highlands of Scotland.
These experiences reinforced my belief in the medicinal herbs and organic food to nourish our well-being.
In addition, I like to watch environmental documentaries that have been an eye opening about food and agricultural practices.
Storytelling and poetry related to the natural world are also themes of strong interest for me. They are resources that we can use to pass on a message of Love and urgent need to care for our mother nature.
Moreover the connection with the natural world allows us to meditate and be grounded on our roots.
I'm very inspired by all grass roots movements that are working on the reforestation and preservation of the natural ecosystems. I've volunteered in some Workaway's placements in Portugal where I worked along other volunteers helping in reforestation and clearance of the land, as well working in organic gardens and learning about permaculture and regenerative agriculture's practices.
I am passionated about the possibilities of working the land as a way to
regenerate people as well.
I am willing to volunteer in placements where nature is nurtured and orientated for the healing of the land and human beings.Interests
