My name is Maria, which is actually Masha in my everyday life because in Russia full passport names are only used in very official settings, and for the rest each name has a commonly used version. I was born in St.Petersburg, Russia, and I grew up there. Since I was a child I was crazy about travelling, exploring new places, experiencing other cultures, meeting people from all over the world and discovering their stories. Some months ago my friend told me that I had already visited around 30 countries (and I am 30 now) but I would definetely want to experience many more.

After my graduation from a BA program in Liberal Arts and Science (my major was international relations, human rights, and political science), I went to the U.S. to work at The University of the South as the Russian House Director and it was absolutely life-changing! I'd always loved traveling and meeting new people but living in another culture for a long time was unlike anything else, incomparable!

After that, I spent a couple of years trying different things and analyzing what I want to do next and then I decided to take a Master's program in Italy, studying Global Development. In my life I did a lot of NGO work and activities so I am very interested in development, human rights, sustainability, and also corporate social responsibility. I am also quite into journalism and writing, and my list of interests and passions definetely doesn't end here. During my Italian university experience I managed to live, study and work in Barcelona, Brussels, and La Paz (Bolivia), owing to a great variety of exchange opportunities at the university. I loved all of it and actually during last couple of years I spent more time in other countries than in Italy so now I am catching up on that and I want to explore Italy and see different parts of the country and improve my Italian as well.

I'm open-minded, inquisitive, sincere, easy to communicate with. Honest and responsible. Flexible and adequate. Deeply in love with nature, especially the sea and the mountains. I love traveling, hiking, swimming, seeing new places, and exploring people and cultures.

I worked as a tutor and as a teacher for 5 years (I helped first-year students to write essays, I taught English to kids and adults, I taught Russian to college students), so that's what I'm really experienced in.
I can help with children and animals (I also have experience in that and I worked with children and did some petsitting as well).
I have some experience working on a farm and in a garden. I did some volunteering and my family has a countryside house in Russia (which is my favourite place!), it's far from civilization, with just nature everywhere around, so I used to do many outdoor activities/work there.
I have experience in organizing different events (conferences, camps, meetings, holidays, etc), in doing research, in writing (both academic and creative), in taking interviews, in working in various NGOs and participating in all kinds of projects.

Most importantly, I'm a fast learner and I am always ready to learn something new and to develop new skills!
