Hi everyone!
I'm Madelief, 22 years old, and I recently finished my studies in Artificial Intelligence in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. Right now, I’m taking a gap year to travel, meet new people, and gain new experiences through volunteering.
I have previous Workaway experience in a hotel in Biarritz, a cultural center in Barcelona, and surf camps in northern Spain. I’ve helped out with cooking, cleaning, maintenance, and charity work. Besides that, I’ve organized events and worked in a bar in Nijmegen, so I’m used to working in dynamic environments and taking responsibility.
Outside of work, I love staying active. I’ve practiced circus arts for years, specializing in aerials and acrobatics. Surfing is another passion—I’ve tried both regular and windsurfing and spend as much time as possible in the water to improve my skills. In my free time, I enjoy reading, crocheting, watching movies, and catching up with friends, whether it's over a drink, a workout, or a good conversation.
My friends describe me as adventurous, reliable, and empathetic. I enjoy stepping out of my comfort zone, learning new skills, and taking on challenges. In the coming months, I plan to travel through South America, and I believe volunteering is the perfect way to connect with people along the way.

I am fluent in Dutch and English. I have lived in Madrid for three years, so I speak Spanish at an intermediate level. For French I have my DELF certificate at B1 level.
Having regulated a couple of fundraisers, outings and other events, I have some organisation and teamwork skills. I have worked as a baby sitter and student tutor for a couple of years, so I am used to doing activities with children.
I have worked at a deli store, as a waitress at two restaurants and in the kitchen of a delivery service, so I am used to working hard. Besides that I have some basic skills in gardening, customer care and teaching.
Furthermore I have experience in working in a hostel where I was doing the housekeeping, reception and breakfast for two months.
I'm interested in learning new things and motivated to do as good as possible:)
