HI EVERYBODY!
WE ARE LUIS AND SUSAN. A YOUNG TRAVELLER COUPLE IN A GAP YEAR.

It's a pleasure to introduce ourselves. We've been together for 3 years.

Luis (23), from Portugal, grew up helping my family, originally from the island of Madeira, Portugal, with farm work, which I did with great passion. Through these experiences, I learned a lot about nature. Later, I decided to embark myself on a life of adventure to one of the most unexplored and virgin places in the world: Patagonia, "the end of the world". For the last 5 years, I have been working in the tourism sector as a tour guide and travel consultant for a prestigious local agency. I also worked as a bartender, which awakened a passion for hospitality and languages. This passion led me to fall in love with the idea of volunteering in search of amazing experiences, exploring the world and expanding my knowledge and personal growth.

Susan (20), Venezuelan, worked for a year in customer service after finishing high school. I then decided to travel with the aim of connecting with new people and cultures, learning languages and adventuring around the world, exploring and gaining experiences in a variety of new and different things that will be of great value to my personal life.

We are trustworthy, totally responsible, proactive, sociable, hardworkers and people who acquire new skills and knowledge very easily. Also open-minded and calm people very capable of going with the flow. We like to keep organised our place.

We love travelling, share experiences and cultures to the world.

Can't wait to spend such a brilliant time with everyone.

Luis: good language skills, I speak 4 languages fluently and I am currently learning two more (French and German).

I've been working as a tour guide in Patagonia, and as a bartender too!!

I grew up in a rural town where I helped my parents with farm chores while enjoying the natural environment that surrounded me.
I have learned several things about craft beer and many cocktails that use beer.
I love cooking, so it would be a pleasure to cook you something delicious :d.
I also have good skills for landscaping, gardening, chainsaw and grass trimmer work, farming, fishing and any other outdoor activities; That's really my cup of tea!
I am willing to share all my skills and knowledge with all of you, but also to learn many things from you!

Susan: Currently learning English, good skills in general maintenance, housework (cleaning, polishing, dusting, etc.), landscaping, gardening, bending vines, babysitting, animal care. She is always open and willing with a smile to learn new things and doesn't mind getting her hands dirty.

Our workaways together:

*English vineyard in Viseu, Portugal (2 months) where we helped with various tasks such as:

- prune and bend vines
- drill holes and plant
- spraying
- weeding
- move the wine to oak barrels.
- drive a tractor
- housekeeping
- Make homemade vinegar and lots of delicious English food.

*Algarve Lion Hunters Kennel in Loulé Algarve, Portugal (4 months) paid project where we helped with:

[GARDENING]:
-Recover gardens and common areas of the property that had not been maintained for a couple of months.
-Weed all the gardens and pathways of the property
-Planting new bulbs and seeds for the summer
-Plant and maintain vegetable garden
-Mow the lawn
-Pruning trees and shaping shrubbery
-Create flower gardens and also succulent gardens
-Treat fungus and insects on plants like roses, vines, hybicius, etc.
-Sanding, painting chairs and tables to create a new communal area
-General maintenance and cleaning of the main house
-Cleaning chicken coop

[PUPPIES]:
-Set up whelping bed and prepare the area to assisting the birth of the bitch and making sure the puppies and their mother were safe
-24 hour surveillance of the puppies for 4 weeks to avoid any life-threatening risks.
-Weigh each of the puppies daily and set up feeding shifts approximately every 2 hours to ensure that all puppies gain sufficient weight.
-When the puppies are approximately 10 days old, we started training them following the ¨puppy culture¨ training program.
-Daily feeding and training of each puppy 4 times a day until they go to their new homes.

Languages passionate always brushing up languages skills as well as learning new vocabulary every single day.
Meditation and yoga are a hobby, as well as fishing, diving, hikking, playing tennis and football.

We cannot stand being in a place where people are not nice since we love to have good conversations and have a really pleasant coexistence and exchange but always respecting one's own space.

Had to leave 2 days after my arrival because I wanted to go south to the beach but I'm gonna stay with Ricardo when I get back São Paulo again. He is such a kind person and will always help you in everything. he's a good cooker and also a great person to have a conversation of any kind and have fun with him and the other workawayers.
