  • Description

    Hi there!

My name is Lucca, I am 24 years old and currently studying Agricultural Economics at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. I love to travel, meet new people and experience the world around me! I am a frequent traveler and for the past two years, I have enjoyed travelling with workaway. I've met many intertesting people along my way and would love to meet more on my further journeys!

In Canada, I did workaway for three weeks at a farm in Kamloops (in summer time), helping out with harvesting and gardening vegetables and similar tasks. Later on, in winter times, I went further north in British Columbia to a farm in McBride, where I helped out with taking care of horses and birds, cleaning the house and various tasks to maintain the farm. I did this to experience some of the more rural/out back Canada and meet the locals. I went to Vancouver (British Columbia) to do an exchange with my studies and chose this destination especially because of the nature and the potential for off-the-grid experiences that are impossible to experience in Copenhagen and far from my every-day life. I have quite an active lifestyle, and enjoy running, kayaking, cross-fitting and biking in my spare time. Therefore, heavy work and hands-on assignments don’t scare me! Also I love to read, cook, am a big fan of board games and socializing with friends.

Further, I went to Finland as a workawayer for two weeks in the summer 2023. This was also a great experience, helping out at a real finnish "Palatsi" with gardening, painting, cooking, etc. I have been living abroad before (In New Zealand and Canada) as a high-school and university student, and generally travelled a lot, so I am quite familiar with meeting new people and very curious about new cultures. Now, I am going to do an internship in Pretoria, South Africa, and would like to travel a bit onwards in Southern Africa after my stay. I consider myself a very easy-going and positive person, who will try to make the most of my time and experiences. I try my best to be kind to everyone around me, and I am a great friend of both animals and children. I am practical and organized and love to plan ahead. I really hope that you will consider letting me into your routines and lifestyle for a few weeks, and I guarantee that I will be dedicated and a passionate participant in the jobs needed to be done.

  • More details about your skills

As described in my profile, I do have some farm-experience and a lot of outdoor trips on my back too. I do not have any building or crafting skills.
I am eager to learn however, and not afraid to dig in to hard or demanding work! I would say that my greatest skill is my level of commitment and curiosity for my surroundings.

Mostly, my previous job experiences has been related to service and cleaning (as a barista and in other cafés), and I would say that I am great at handling stressfull situtaions and have a decent overview of situations.

I have done some volunteer work with children (aged 8-12 years old), engaging in a volunteer-group, arranging activities and guidance for a group of girls with somewhat special needs. Also, I helped restore some prayerstones (painting and brush up) in Dharamsala, at Dalai Lamas temple in 2019, as part of a "contenouos school" (im not sure what the excact term is for this in english, as contenuous/voluntairy schooling is a typical Danish phenomena), travelling throug India, Nepal and Thailand for a couple of moths. I was supposed to engage in further voluntary work in Africa, but unfortunaly this trip was dramatically shortened due to the COVID-pandemic.

I love to cook and would also claim to be good at it. In either case, I low to explore countries through their cuisines and hope to learn a thing or two about Canadian produce and cooking. Generally, I am very interested in the whole "farm to fork" procedure, as this is also an important aspect of my studies at university.

I am fluent in English, as I have previously lived in New Zealand for close to a year. I have hiking and a bit of mountaineering experience as well, and look forward to experience the Canadian wilderness this comming summer-winter.

  • What else ...

I am keen on any nature-related recreational activities. I plan on bringing both my running shoes and hiking boots. I am a bit of an adrenaline junkie too, having done bungee-jumping, obtained a divers certificate, skydiving and a bit more in the past, so I am always up for an adventure or a challenge :)
Also, I love to read and will probably bring a book or two with me for my spare time. I usually play lots of card-games with my family, so I will enjoy this too and generally I am open to try new things and look forward to interesting conversations with you!
