Description
Hi!
I'm Lise, a recent bioengineering graduate from Belgium, looking to join inspiring workaway projects that fit my values! 🌱
You guessed it -I’m taking a gap year to reconnect with both myself and the knowledge I’ve gained in agronomy, while also pushing myself out of my comfort zone and explore other paths like eco construction, arts and DIY! Basically, I want to challenge myself and learn new skills WITH MY HANDS, rather than with my head for a change. Also, I dream to spend time gardening and working OUTDOORS after years of studying behind a desk!
I want to start learning all what I haven't during education, and wich I believe is learned through human interactions, at a smaller scale and closer to the basic needs of love and sharing.
During my time at university, I was part of Mundo’kot, a volunteer project dedicated to raising awareness on global inequalities, decolonization, and ecological and social transition. I believe these causes are deeply interconnected. This enriching human experience taught me that with motivation and creativity, we can achieve great things together. And I’m since then even more inspired by communities that pursue sustainable social and ecological practices such as gender equality and agroecology. It would be a real pleasure for me to contribute to similar meaningful projects!
As a person, you could say that I'm a bit of a scaredy-cat, but I’m also a curious and playful soul. Once I commit to something, I give it 100%, and I’ve never regretted stepping out of my comfort zone. I’m also a sensitive and contemplative nature lover, practicing yoga (working on doing it more regularly!), and I have a passion for music (though I can’t play any instruments, sorry!). I love listening to people’s stories and sharing conversations (even though I’m a bit introverted at first). And I truly believe that kindness can change the world!
PS: If you're also traveling and looking for a meetup or travel buddy you can text me! I'm into slow travel with no other objective than staying in Europe (and preferably spend the winter somewhere warm).
Can't wait to meet your beautiful soul🌼Interests

More details about your skills
My previous workaway experiences are quite diverse and included gardening, taking care of animals (chickens, peacoks and cats), and olive picking. I'm not afraid of physical work, to get dirty or to use funny tools!
Back home I have also done some babysitting and care for children, worked as a waitress in a bar and for the university restaurants. I’ve also had experience in hospital cleaning and have provided student tutoring and academic support.
As a bioengineering student, I’ve gained valuable knowledge about farming, though I lack hands-on practice, which is exactly what I’m seeking here! I like brainstorming and problem-solving. As a member of several student projects, we organized many events, and even created exhibitions and interactive games entirely on our own!
I’m eager to learn and develop more practical and manual skills. And generally, when I try something new, I manage with creativity, though the results aren’t always perfect. That’s why I want to use this time to deepen my skills and, perhaps, even discover new passions!
I love cooking, experimenting in the kitchen, and of course, eating (I cook vegetarian for myself -but flexible)! I am an attentive and patient caregiver, and I’m very dedicated in my work. I enjoy both teamwork and individual work for different reasons, but I always appreciate reflecting on the day with a team around!Age
