United Kingdom - from Sep 2024 until Jul 2025 View allDescription
I am a French, 22 years old student who studies a Japanese degree in London, UK. I am on a year abroad in Japan as a part of my degree and I am looking to broaden my horizon on Japanese culture and language by travelling in the countryside during August, before I have to go back to the UK.
I would love to experience traditional Japanese culture, preferably in a quiet, natural area of the country. I do not mind physical work, I would consider myself outdoorsy and interested in sports such as hiking, biking, rock climbing, etc.
I am available from the end of July (25/07) until early September (10/09).
This is my first time using the workaway website, however I have similar experience such as au pairing in the UK, and wwoofing in Mexico and Italy. I can provide references if needed :)
My first big travel was a wwoofing experience in Mexico in 2019, where i lived for 2 1/2 weeks in a farm, helping with the family's everyday life (childcare and housework). Then, I became au au pair in a British family in London during 2020, mainly helping with the children's schedule. I decided to settle in London for my studies, and have travelled in a few European countries, plus Japan since then.

More details about your skills
Coming from the countryside in France, I have experience with diverse farmwork and house maintenance. I cared for horses, cows, dogs and other animals and participated in maintaining farmhouses and barns several summers.
Additionnally, I have worked with children aged 2-10 for one year as an Au Pair in the UK, and have been babysitting regularly for three years since then.
Plus, I have travelled in rural Mexico as a wwoofer for a short period of time.
I also have experience teaching French to children (while being an Au Pair), and English in Japan, to Kansai university students, where I am studying.
I enjoy sharing my culture through language, games, food, etc.
I have helped in a few house renovation projects as well, though I am looking forward to expand this experience.Age
