Description
Hello!! :)
I’m Lidia, a 21-year-old university student who absolutely can't wait to spend the summer exploring the world, discovering other cultures and meeting new people to share memories, experiences and worldviews with. I was born and raised in Italy, I lived Australia, and I am now settled in the Netherlands for my studies. Moreover, I had the opportunity to travel quite a lot throughout my life, from backpacking through South-East Asia to living with a local family in Turkey or roadtripping in Morocco and Namibia. Yet, the list of countries I'd love to visit is endless, and any opportunity to live a new adventure is welcome.
Hopping from one country to another made me realize what it means to live in a multicultural environment, blending with new cultures and lifestyles, getting used to feeling at home even when my family is on the other side of the world. My objective is not only visiting new countries, but immersing myself completely into local cultures and creating true, meaningful connections with people who probably have had a completely different life path, habits, traditions and views from me. I am curious, open-minded, inquisitive, I want to discover, learn, and share in order to broaden my horizons and gain a new perspective. I believe traveling is a two-way journey where we both give and receive. As much as I would like to bring meaningful connections and memories from my trips, I would also like to leave something positive for the people I meet. Whether it’s through volunteering, helping out in community projects, language exchange, or simply sharing stories and skills, I want to make a small, positive impact.
I think my contribution would be versatile: I have experience teaching languages (I used to teach English and Italian to migrants in my town), I am good at creative and manual projects, and I have strong organizational skills as I have often participated to community projects for local NGOs and student groups alongside university. Moreover, my education in International Studies and Anthropology provided me with skills in inter-cultural communications and cultural sensitivity. I am especially passionate about creative activities like photography, painting, and drawing, and I usually document my journeys through writing and visual arts. I always love to share this passion with the people I meet during my trips, and in general I really look forward to meeting new friends, sharing stories, and contributing in any way I can!Interests

More details about your skills
I am a university student of International Studies, which means that I am more than used to deal with different cultures and languages. I have learnt how to understand different cultural practices and being always respectful, beside dealing with complex international socio-political issues.
beyond my mother tongue (Italian), I am fluent in English (Ielts 7.5) and I am learning French. In my life I have volunteered as a teacher of English and Italian for migrant communities in my town, and I have also worked as a babysitter and pet-sitter (cats, dogs, rabbits... I love any type of animal). Moreover, I used to organize awareness raising events in primary and middle schools to inform children about human rights. Finally, I can say to have creative/practical skills: painting murales, coming up with creative solutions or more generally doing any type of (not too technical) manual work would not be new to me.Age

What else ...
I have many hobbies: painting, drawing, reading and writing are just a few. I love any type of creative activity, I am a huge fan of indie music and am always up for long book/movie/music discussions.
