My name is Laura Mameli, I'm 24 years old, and I’ve been traveling since I was a child. I firmly believe that growth and maturity come from interacting with diverse people and engaging with new and different realities. I have been working as an English language tutor for Italian students for several years, helping them achieve their language goals. I also participated in a regional project in Sardinia, where I taught the basics of the Italian language to migrants and refugees, an experience that deepened my commitment to language education and cultural integration. My passion for languages has always driven me to explore new linguistic horizons. During my bachelor's degree, I studied Russian and English, and during my master's, I took on the challenge of learning Hebrew. Currently, I am particularly focused on expanding my language skills by learning French."

My academic journey has provided me with a strong foundation in languages, particularly in Russian and English, with a focus on teaching methodologies. This has refined my ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and adapt my communication style to different audiences. Whether it’s explaining concepts in a classroom setting or engaging in persuasive communication, I am confident in my ability to connect with others effectively.

During my master's studies in International Relations, I honed my research and analytical skills, enabling me to delve into complex issues and understand the intricacies of human behavior, societal dynamics, and the challenges that shape our everyday lives. My experience in foreign countries as part of my studying program has also deepened my appreciation for cultural diversity and the importance of fostering inclusive dialogue. I believe this perspective will be invaluable in contributing to a positive and collaborative atmosphere during my time with you.

In addition to my academic background, I have hands-on experience as a volunteer teacher in a Ugandan village. There, I regularly created reports and articles, complete with photographs, to keep stakeholders informed and attract potential donors. This experience not only enhanced my communication and storytelling abilities but also taught me the importance of resourcefulness and adaptability, skills that are crucial when working in challenging environments.

I am a naturally curious person with a passion for exploring new hobbies. Music is a significant part of my life—I studied piano for many years and taught myself to play guitar, which allows me to accompany myself when I sing. My creativity makes it easy for me to engage with and entertain children, as I’m always coming up with fun and imaginative activities. I have a deep appreciation for nature and love spending time outdoors, whether it’s taking long walks or riding horses, a sport I’ve enjoyed since childhood. I also have a knack for photography, capturing moments beautifully despite never having taken formal classes.

It’s hard for me to put into words the intensity of my experience with Gilles and Elisabeth in just one review. The two weeks I spent at their beautiful estate were so meaningful and rejuvenating that I can’t help but feel a deep sense of nostalgia as I look back on those moments. Gilles and Elisabeth reached out to me by chance, unaware that the… read more peace and tranquility of a property surrounded by nature, enriched by the presence of animals and two people as wonderful as they are, were exactly what I needed at this point in my life.
Gilles is an exceptional horseman, deeply devoted to his horses and their well-being. He taught me so much about the art of horsemanship and the importance of building a relationship based on trust and mutual respect with the animal. I’ll never forget his dedication and the care with which he explained that to create a true bond, you must learn to move in harmony with the horse, to become one with it — the key to a perfect and harmonious connection.
I also cherished our evening walks around the estate with the two dogs, filled with conversations on all sorts of topics. Gilles is a deeply curious person, with a wealth of knowledge and fascinating stories to share, making every moment we spent together enriching and memorable.
I do regret not knowing French, as I would have loved to share more thoughts and ideas with Elisabeth, with whom I’m sure I share a similar outlook. She is a strong and intelligent woman with a contagious laugh, and I was deeply touched by her endless patience and willingness to accompany me wherever I needed to go — whether it was for grocery shopping, visiting the vibrant and colorful Mirapex market, or exploring the enchanting city of Carcassonne, which I absolutely adored.
I can confidently say that this region of France is truly captivating. The house I stayed in was spacious, cozy, and equipped with all the necessary amenities to ensure a delightful stay.
Unlike many hosts, Gilles and Elisabeth don’t require any specific tasks, other than taking care of the house when they are away. This gives you plenty of free time to explore the surroundings, take leisurely strolls or horseback rides around the estate, or simply go about your own activities. I wholeheartedly recommend this experience and hope and plan to return soon — hopefully with a license in hand this time!
I’m eagerly looking forward to seeing you both in Sardinia, whenever you wish!
