Hello !! We are Laura ( London ) and Michael ( Manchester ) from the UK. We have been together for just over 10 years ( living together for approx 4 years).
We have both left our jobs in Cambridge, England to start a new adventure of traveling Australia on a 417 Visa. We decided to take an extended journey from England to get to Australia backpacking via Italy, Albania, North Macedonia, Dubai, Singapore and have just now arrived in Australia at the Gold Coast. We are now traveling up the East coast by train.

We We are both passionate about travelling and food, interested in exploring Australia , helping others, working outdoors, learning new skills and about Australia and its culture - we thought a really good way of doing this would be through work away.

We're 29-30 years old so have plenty of life experience and are used to managing a household (cooking, cleaning, DIY, etc.)

Since we have been in Australia we have had the amazing oppotunity to stay at two work aways. We have enjoyed the oppotunity to learn about australian culture and stay in more rural locations. We have loved learning about the different eco projects. While we have been on these work aways we have done jobs such as juicing fruit, weeds, looking after chickens/Cows , planting plants /trees and house work.

Michael (29)
I have been working as a Biologist in the UK since graduating from university 7 years ago but am now embarking on a much overdue and indefinite career break! :)

With my scientific background I'm a good pragmatic thinker and get a kick out of problem solving. I also have a lot of exprience with technology and of patiently teaching others, sometimes very difficult material.

I also love cooking, especially making new dishes and am more into improvising with what ingredients I have than following recipies to the letter.

Laura (30 )
I have a passion for working with and helping others. I also love hands on work and thinking outside the box - this led me to my career of Occupational therapy which I have been doing for the last 4 years. I have had the oppotunity to work with those from many different walks of life and also with different health conditions.

Although I love working as an Occupational Therapist it was a challanging time working in a hospital durings Covid I have decided that I need a career break - so here we are in Australia in search for new experiences.

As well as my career I have had the oppotunity to work in retail in a pharmacy and also multiple different voluntry jobs including in a school for children with disabilities , with girl guides , and also going to Africa ( zambia, Malawi) and painting a school and making a play ground for local Orphans.

We both love to travel and meet new people and food - also a key factor in our love of travel.

My main interests are sport, music and reading. I'm very keen on most sports (Football, Tennis, snooker etc.), really into my music and play a bit of guitar and piano and love to read - have begrudgingly switched to a kindle for out travels which I now like :)

Laura
In my spare time I enjoy going on walks / hikes , seeing friends , going out to eat, going to museums/ art galleries/ theater ( particularly muscials ), listening to audio books and watching films/TV.
