Description
We're a Australian couple who in 2022 decided to pack up and sell all our things to start a journey of travel, discovery and alternative ways of doing life! Josh converted a campervan back in Australia so we are big fans of being creative, resourceful and free. Kitty loves being resourceful, DIY projects and being in nature. We love good food and all the steps in the process, from growing to cooking to eating!

The most standout motivator for our happiness and enjoyment will always be community and connection with people. We love being able to learn from others and hearing stories of travels, history and encounters with nature. Usually we find the most memorable part of a place, is the people... (and we can't forget the food!!).

We feel most free when working with our hands and being in nature. Having grown up near the beach the outdoors was a important part of childhood and ever since we have been motivated by adventure, exploration and jumping into a body of water somewhere along the journey!

Josh specialises in a great range of skills, when living in Sydney Australia, he converted a van into a camper van, consisting of wood working skills, building of a bed frame and kitchenette for camping use, installing roof racks and a side awning, panelling the roof with insulation and hardwood. Josh has a degree in civil engineering and has worked as a qualified geotechnical engineer. He loves creating functional and aesthetic decorations and additions. He has been surfing since he was a teenager and knows water safety very well. He is also a qualified ski technician and has an extensive amount of knowledge surrounding the snow and mountains.

Kitty has experience in working with fabric to sew clothing and curtains for the camper van conversion. She loves being creative with painting, decorating, interior design and finding treasures in antique and second hand shops. She has in the past helped on a guerrilla garden in London as well as working on a sheep wool farm that offered a touristic farm experience in Sydney.

We offer a diverse range of skills and are very eager to expand our knowledge and abilities.

Our time at this workaway was short due to the extreme heat in June (up to 45 degrees in the day). Because of the heat unfortunately not much work could be done, this means a lot of hours are spent moving very slowly and entertaining yourself with books, crafts and anything else that you can bring along with you. We spent a week at Oktay and Nicoles hotel and couldn't have loved it more! We consider ourselves very lucky to have had the opportunity to workaway here.
