My next destination:
Sweden - from Jul 2025 until Oct 2025 View allDescription
Hi there! My name is Kate and I'm a 31 year old writer and journalist from Cardiff, Wales. I've lived all over- London, Brighton, Helsinki, Berlin, Hrisey, Stockholm. I'm a naturally sociable/curious person that loves nothing more than hearing peoples life stories.
Currently, I juggle freelance work as a journalist for print and radio with volunteering- I volunteer once a week with elderly veterans, crafting art projects, engaging in memory exercises, and just chatting and socialising with them! I also volunteer at a local farm once a week. (I love goats as much as I love people).
I'm currently looking for a farm stay for 2-3months- I want to learn more about animal husbandry, and in return I can be a willing and enthusiastic pair of helping hands, as well as someone who hopefully has some interesting stories to share :)
I have an MA in film, and I also love to run, cook, bake, do crosswords, play board games, collage and cold/wild swim.Interests

More details about your skills
I'm a sociable, curious and creative person that is handy in some ways (I’m fun, I promise) and less so in others (building things hahah). I get a dopamine hit from being around people and animals, but am also just as happy entertaining myself.
I'm good at cooking, can paint a mean wall (or fence, or what have you), can adapt quickly to gardening, and would love to do a language exchange. Also good with animals and kids! (I was an au pair for many months in Finland).
My main purpose and goal for Workaway is for the intellectual and adventurous exchange with people from all over the world, to meet and learn about different cultures, and ideally write about them, or collaborate and work on creative projects with those I meet.
But currently I am looking to get to grips with what it's like living on a farm (my dream goal one day).Age
31
What else ...
I'm an avid cold swimmer: I love nothing more than waking up early, swimming in a cold lake outdoors (or the sea!), then reading and writing. I love Frank O’Hara’s poetry, art/paintings of Rothko, Munch, Howard Hodgkins, David Wojnarowicz, William Egglston, Alice Neele, Carol Schneemann. Writers: Knausgård, Eve Babitz, Joan Didion, Vivian Gornick, etc
I studied film, and write about it sometimes for work: I love 70s horror films and the works of Fassbinder, Bergman, Robert Altman, John Waters and more.
I love (watching) skateboarders (suck at doing it), and most of all, I love dogs of every kind (there are no bad dogs). I love goats! and cows...and pigs...and donkeys...the list goes on.
I enjoy spirituality, and learning more about other cultures, languages and ways of living :)Some more information
