  • Description

Hi! My name is Kaja, I’m here on Workaway with my partner David, looking for meaningful work exchanges this year. We are now planning to travel in Morocco from mid-December to mid-January. We are ready to participate in new projects and learn new skills. As well as sharing our passions and getting to know people of all cultures and backgrounds.

I am a 23 year old Norwegian, and David is a 27 year old Congolese Norwegian (He has lived here since he was 6 years old) We have been a couple for 3 years now. David is studying philosophy at the moment and Kaja is studying nature and environment.

David has been working with sales for four years, and has also been working with web-development for a period, creating web-stores and websites for customers. He is able to help you if you need something in this area.

I've grown up on a small organic farm and I wish to continue developing my experience and knowledge of growing and gardening. I have made my own vegetable garden this last season, so I am experimenting more with what techniques work for my area, and how to cooperate with the soil, weather and all the factors that affect growth and the wellbeing of a garden. I am very interested to come to a host where I can learn from your farming experience, and see how things are done in different places and ways.

I'm a big animal lover, growing up on a farm I've had animals of all shapes and sizes all my life. I am happy to do all kinds of work around animals and sharing my love and commitment to make their lives as good as possible. I happily share my days with animals, cuddling and caring for their needs. I am especially interested in working at rescue centers and animal sanctuaries as those initiatives are very inspiring to me.

I have more than 10 years experience with training and caring for horses, both my own horses, and in big and small stables. I have volunteered at stables at several occasions in my life and have experience with many different ways of relating to horses. Personally I appreciate natural horsekeeping, and handling on the horses premises. I have experience with natural horsemanship and training with positive reinforcement.

Of course we can both do most general maintenance work, and are not afraid of getting our hands dirty. We are not new to painting, simple building or garden work. We are also very happy to learn new skills in these fields. Learning basic skills to live sustainably and perhaps of-the-grid is something we are interested in. We feel that it is of great importance to be able to manage these tasks ourselves. Nowadays many people live so disconnected from the basics, and have no idea how to survive from scrach, this is something we find very meaningful to learn more about, and in that way learning how to live sustainably and closer to nature and the basics.

We are both lovers of nature and I appreciate working outdoors. Embracing Mother nature is very important to us, and a part of the way we want to live holistically, inside and out. Living in a way that takes care of the natural world is a big focus in our lives, and the life that causes the least amount of harm. This is something we are working on implementing in all aspects of our lives and how we relate to the ones around us. Both humans and all of non-human animals and nature. We hope to get in touch with whatever way nature is present where we travel. We both love running and hiking, and would opportunities for exploring the surrounding nature after work.

We both do not eat meat, and Kaja is mostly vegan. We are also passionate about nutrition and health and would love to cook some healthy plant based food for everyone if you wish:)

I have a big heart for children with their creative ways to encounter the world. I am currently working part-time in a kindergarten so I am quite experienced in child care, kindergarten pedagogy, and the relations and play of children. I have also volunteered at an orphanage, and I am happy to get more experience with children. Encountering children in ways I can be of positive influence to them, showing understanding and genuine love and attention. And just having fun, playing in their curious way of approaching the world.

I appreciate art and do different art projects as a hobby. Everything from knitting and repairing fabrics to drawing, decorating and woodwork. I hope I can contribute with something artistic to your project. I've also done my high school education with music, and play the violin and some piano as well as I love to sing. To share music is such blessing, and helps in building connections between cultures. David is also a musician, so we would both love to be part of a musial workaway:)

Yoga and meditation is a important part of both of our lives. We have our own yoga practise, but we would also be happy to share our experience of doing yoga, and to teach others. Living in a holistic way is something we are aiming for every day. Both on the outside, doing meaningful work, and on the inside in the way of relating to ourselves and others. Living in a way that causes joy, both for ourselves and others is achieved by constantly paying attention to our thoughts and feelings, and being able to flow with the mind instead of battling it. We hope to find a place to practice more mindfulness and meditation, so if that is also important to you, it will be a good mach:)

We are looking forward to getting in touch with you!
