  • Description

    Hello!
    This is me. Julia.
I'm a 29 year old German who left her country in September '21 to travel the world and learn about many different things.

Looking back, I have to say I was quite successful. I learned about languages, meditation and yoga, Permaculture and syntropic farming, trekking in high altitudes, how to ride a motorbike, different massages, religions, diving...and small skills you pick up while traveling; like packing your backpack effectively, opening and cutting certain fruits, which is the best fruit combination for a shake, and what is your personal level of spiciness ...

In my free time I enjoy cooking, painting, yoga and meditation and in general just studying languages, right now it is Greek. Καλημέρα! And you will most likely find me in a cute cafe mumbling some words while studying. :D

During my travels I especially loved my times living in communities through staying for a longer amount of time. Having the same people around, cooking, eating, working, dancing and hanging out together. Be it in a monastery, a farm, a Yoga place, a language school, a hostel, a bus ride...
Where people come and spend time together in many different ways, share stories and food, play games and form the experience itself. Where people bond and grow together.

I also like to be on my own. Being a solo traveler, that's the actual nice and challenging part sometimes, right? Where I'm discussing with myself if I should do that one thing or not, if being frightened makes sense at this very moment or not. And also being deeply satisfied by my solo trips on a motorbike or hiking through the Himalayas. Learning to be proud of my achievements. 2 years ago I wouldn't have dared to do some of these things by myself.

Now I am nearly at the end of my travels, or you could say I'm changing the style of it drastically. I have seen and learned a lot and it is time to arrive. Not back to Germany. But to New Zealand (I want to be a barista there and make great coffee to make people happy, and be a kids and yin yoga teacher). Until then I want to continue learning through working and staying in places, taking small breaks from travelling. But continue getting to know people and develop new skills, having fun and spreading fun and smiles, being in nature and gardens and finding a home for a couple of days or weeks to unpack my backpack.

Apart from being a primary school teacher i studied fine arts as a subject, so i have some skills with a pencil/brush, with tools, different materials like clay, paper, metal and wood and of course a camera (composition, editing photos and videos ect.). Learnt how to build a few things there and somehow I know how to cast bronze now. yay.

back in Germany I worked in a school for kids with special needs and as an assistant for people with disabilities (cleaning, cooking, babysitting, holidays...)

i was also working in other places before (e.g. hostels, festivals (kitchen, bar, check in, service), office, factory, school, University).
and honestly I enjoyed all of it. so yeah. I am curious and flexible to try new things.

I also love cooking a lot and create my own milks, creams, spreads, cheeses ect. trying to make my life more sustainable :)
