Hola, me llamo Julen y vengo de un pequeño pueblo entre las montañas del Pais Vasco en el norte de España llamado Ermua.
Soy una persona de mente abierta, curiosa y lista para nuevos retos y aventuras, me encantan los animales y disfruto viajando mientras me sumerjo y aprendo de la cultura.
Vivi y trabaje en Brighton y luego viaje Irlanda donde trabaje por primera vez con workaway y fue una de las mejores experiencias que he tenido descubriendo nuevas personas, lugares y cultura. Deje mi trabajo y compre un billete para America para cumplir mi sueño de viajar mientras aprendo todo lo que me ofrezca el camino.
En mi viaje por Latinoamérica trabajé sobretodo en hosteles y hoteles haciendo todo lo necesario para el funcionamiento del establecimiento, desde la recepción a la limpieza y preparación de camas y habitaciónes.
Ahora he vuelto a Europa y estoy viajando por Holanda trabajando temporalmente

Hey there, I am Julen, I grew up in small town surrounded by mountains in the Basque Country (North of Spain) called Ermua, where I studied and worked.
I am open-minded, curious, always ready for a challenge, I love animals and I enjoy traveling and learning more about the world. I lived and worked in Brighton (England) and Dublin and I too much enjoyed the opportunity of discovering a new country and its culture. I quit my job and bought a one way ticket to fulfill my dream of traveling while learning everything around me along the way.
I would love to have the opportunity to work in a new place and meet new people at the same time.

During my trip through America I have worked mostly in hostels, working at the reception desk, cleaning and preparing rooms and beds and creating a welcoming environment for the guests.
Now I am back in Europe and I am traveling and working in Holland and Germany for the winter and summer season.

Soy resposable, tranquilo y buen trabajador no me importa mancharme las manos.
Me gusta cuidar de los animales y hacer cualquier tipo de deporte, estudie para ser profesor de actividades fisicas y he trabajado dando clases de Zumba, Surf y Skate, tambien he trabajado en restaurantes antes de acabar en una fabrica de coches. Me gusta cuidar de mis primos pequeños y hace dos años que empeze ha escalar.
Me gusta ir a la montaña y cuando puedo trabajo la tierra en un huerto con mis amigos.

Excelente sitio para hacer workaway, el staff son unas maravillosas personas que desde el primer momento te hacen sentir que estas con amigos de toda la vida y no es solo con los voluntarios cualquier huesped que pasaba por el hostel sentia esa calidez y cercania.

Un amigo, empatico profesional, muy dispuesto a aprender nuevas cosas, fue una estadía genial llena de cariño hacia los animales y las personas. Trabajo en carpintería, arreglos del refugio, y con los animales, todxs quedamos más que encantados y lo sentimos parte de la familia. Lo recibiríamos mil veces denuevo. Ya lo extrañamos.

I spent two amazing weeks with Pat & Fidelma, I wish it had been longer because I felt really welcome in their house, but it wasn't possible :(

Their house is located in a beautiful part of the Irish countryside, there are many interesting places nearby, the area is full of history and culture (the farm itself is one of those places). Pat &… read more Fidelma were really kind and show me around taking me to a wonderful day trip I will never forget. They also provided me information about touristic routs or special spots in the area. It was great to have the opportunity to know this part of the country with them.

My daily life was very active and busy so I never had time to get bored, but of course I did have loads of time to rest and travel around. I woke up every morning happy to know my porridge was waiting for me on the kitchen table (after leaving I even bought the same marmalade they used so I could eat that yummy breakfast again ;) ), after that we worked for two hours doing different kind of jobs like: feeding the sheep, building the fence... Pat was really kind and helpful and a great teacher when it comes to the farming techniques. He was very patient with me and always offered me help and advice.

After those two hours we would have a break to have tea and something to eat (I'm not able to explain the amount of different food they gave me, but I can tell you it was all tasty and lovely). Once the break was over we would keep up working for other two or three hours and then it was dinner time... my favourite moment of the day. Pat is a skilful chef and we always had different kind of food so we could choose and eat whatever we wanted. I never felt hungry or find something I didn't like.

Once the working day was over we had the rest of the day free to relax or explore the beautiful scenery around us. We were always more than welcome to use their bikes to hang around or just relax in the sitting room. The room where I stayed was lovely and really cozy and clean, just as the rest of the house.

Fidelma was really kind and she cared about my wellbeing almost as much as my mom does. She helped me improving my rusty English and I had great fun with her.

If you choose to go to this house you need to be aware of the following rules:
1. Never be hungry
2. Never be cold
3. Never get bored
4. Never get too stressed

This rules sum up pretty good how good and kind Fidelma and Pat are.

I already miss my friends Pat and Fidelma. Chatting about history or learning and sharing more about each other’s cultures. If I ever come back to Ireland I know I will go to Sligo to visit them because they were really nice to me and I felt as I was part of their family.

Thanks so much for everything and remember: If you ever come to the Basque Country please call me and I'll try to be a good host, just the same way you were the best hosts I could have asked for.
