  • Description

We are James, Caz and Autumn (4) and as of Spring 2023 we put our words into action and decided to opt out of the rat race, here in the UK.

We sold our house, bought a caravan and set sail to Portugal as our first destination in search of a simpler way of living, where family and well being are prioritised.

Most of our friends and family members thought we were 'nuts' and couldn't understand why we would give up our four walls and a comfortable life. But we both felt there was more to life than what we had originally been sold. It was a big and scary decision, especially with a young child, but we knew it was a 'now or never' moment so took the plunge.

Any anxieties and nerves we were feeling were soon distant memories, as we stayed with 3 wonderful families in Central Portugal. Each unique, yet all so eye opening as to what can be possible when you choose to take a leap into the unknown.
Those precious few months we were 'allowed' outside of the UK, profoundly shifted our perspective on life, igniting a desire to explore alternative living.

We have since spent time in Romania, again through Workaway and have made some beautiful and longlasting memories and friends.

Our long term goal is to live off grid in a remote part of the world surrounded by wild landscapes & beautiful nature. We are dreamers with big ideas yet understand that this life requires vast amounts of hardwork & effort to reach the tranquillity we dream of - a work/life balance that is becoming increasingly difficult to achieve in the UK.

We want to gain experiences with like minded others, who believe that a stripped back lifestyle of simple pleasures and the freedom to spend more time with loved ones is ultimately what true happiness is all about.

We are on a mission to find our very own piece of paradise to call home where we can set down our roots and live a more sustainable life.

I'm also a keen cook and have a love for food!

    Caz:

I'm currently studying an online yoga course which I hope will one day give me enough knowledge and the qualification to share and teach the profession to others.

  • What else ...

James is a mosaic of passions. He's just as comfortable strategizing on a chessboard as he is venturing on a challenging hike or crafting digital art. He is a lover of music and podcasts. As he is a carpenter, he loves getting involved in physical labour. The challenge of maintaining life in the wild is one of the things that excites him the most.

Caz has a passion for painting and creativity, and can often be found alongside Autumn with paintbrushes in hand, crafting small masterpieces. Her routine includes a regular yoga practice, and she holds a keen fascination for Ayurveda, herbal medicines, and holistic well-being. An earnest desire to deepen her understanding in these areas fuels her wish to connect with kindred souls who can offer further insights and knowledge.
