Hi! We are Javier and Aitor, two 24 year olds from Spain who have been friends since school. We are going on our first long term backpacking journey - we are planning a year long journey across southeast Asia and possibly Japan. but time is not a constraint and we are open to falling in love with any given place.

Our shared passion for exploration, cultural exchange, and sustainable living has brought us together for this epic adventure. We believe that the best way to truly understand a place is by immersing ourselves in local communities, connecting with people, and giving back wherever we can.

Our idea is to learn through life experiences. While we are really interested in seeing and learning about historical and natural landmarks, that is not the main objective of our journey. We want to engage with local activities and people as much as possible so as to get an authentic point of view on the cultures and societies that we are fortunate enough to enjoy.

We believe that change defines us, as we constantly strive to become better. The way we most enjoy doing this is sharing experiences, thoughts, and feelings with like-minded people. We're open and conscious people who are concerned about the way we see the world, and are always looking for a different way to see it. At the end of the day, we want to fear and stress less and smile more :)

Aitor is a double bachelor with degrees in Political Science and International Studies because of his concern about sustainability in political, economic, and social relationships. He is specially interested in the historical roots of inequality and questioning the consumerist mindset and system that we see every day. Javi dropped off of a Philosophy and Political Science double bachelor when COVID hit and started working as an English translator when he was 20. Since then he moved away and pursued a career in tech support, combining his IT skills with his drive to help others. We also worked together on a fashion startup handling logistics and operations. We're intelligent and hardworking people who love taking on a challenge. If you give either of us a task we'll figure out how to complete it even if we've never done it before.

More details about my language interests
Both of us have lived abroad in the UK and have always loved learning new languages as a way to express ourselves. Throughout this journey, we would like to learn the local language of the region we visit to a realistic extent in an attempt to communicate with natives out of curiosity and respect. We have some experience teaching a variety of subjects and are always open to teaching English, Spanish or whatever need be :)

What else ...

Javi loves video games and fantasy. He's played a lot of World of Warcraft at a high level, which is a game that focuses on teamwork - cooperating with others is something he's always enjoyed.

Aitor enjoys running and reading, recently being very interested in Haruki Murakami's writing because of the beauty conveyed in the faerie and spiritual way he describes everyday life.

We also like being outdoors and have had our share of camping and short-term backpacking.
