Hello! My name is Jason! I'm a 28 year old American and I'm going backpacking again starting in January of 2025. In 2023 spent 13 months backpacking and doing work exchanges in Guatemala, Nicaragua, Colombia, Peru, and Chile. In the summers I go and work on a fishing boat in Alaska. I love traveling, meeting new people, sharing cultures, and playing music. I am passionate about music, education, permaculture, and sustainability among other things. In 2025 I would really like to do workaways centered around teaching english, permaculture, or sustainability. I would love to learn new skills, especially around gardening, construction, carpentry, farming, etc. It is my dream to one day have my own land where I grow food and live sustainably. I am a TEFL certified English teacher (received in Guatemala at Maximo Nivel in 2023). I am a native English speaker and I can speak basic to intermediate Spanish. It is also a goal of mine to become fluent in Spanish. I have been studying on my own but I would love to be immersed around Spanish speakers to keep practicing and learn more.

I love to learn and share my knowledge. Some of my skills and capabilities are: English teaching, music (guitar and drums), hospitality, manual labor, camping, and hiking. In a former life I used to work in finance, so I also have knowledge around financial planning, financial literacy, and investing.
