I'm currently finishing out my work season in northern Colorado, but later this fall I'm hoping to connect with people across the globe, work on my Spanish, and explore!
Description
I love spending time outdoors and getting the opportunity to connect with people. I find I'm most happy when I'm outside, with friends (even better, outside WITH friends), or completing work meaningful to me. Besides that, I enjoy mountain biking, hiking, skiing, reading, and crafting. I love especially when I get to combine my hobbies --- hiking while listening to audiobooks or sewing while watching the UCI Mountain Bike World Series. It's even better getting to share experiences with people I love --- overnight hiking trips with friends or ski trips with my brother. I'm motivated by the opportunity to push my limits; I've found a passion for travel and experiencing new people and places.
I'm hoping that Workaway will give me the opportunity to work on my Spanish and explore new countries/connect with new people! I love learning new games and trying new food, and I especially enjoy getting to immerse myself in different cultures. I love getting the opportunity to explore and push my own self growth. There's not necessarily a particular location or type of work I'm looking for -- I'm open to most anything!Interests

I took four years of Spanish courses in high school, but definitely have become a bit rusty since then! I really enjoyed my time learning Spanish and would love nothing more than the opportunity to work on my knowledge of the language. I think there's nothing more impressive than people who are fluent in multiple languages and would really appreciate any opportunity to join their ranks.Skills and knowledge I'd like to share or learn

More details about your skills
I like to think that I'm a Jack of All Trades! I've worked as a farmhand, a waitress and hostess in a restaurant/bar, and a personal assistant to a retired contractor doing construction/remodel work around her home. In the last few years, I've been a camp counselor at an education farm camp and a research assistant doing work in burned landscapes. For three years I was a (lab) teaching assistant for a computer science course, and during the fall and spring of this last year I additionally worked as a GIS technician for a local stormwater management company.
Most recently, I've been working at my university's remote mountain campus as their program assistant and as a challenge course facilitator on their ropes course, belaying participants of all ages through the course elements. At this most current job, I've also stepped into other roles as needed, including housekeeping and kitchen prep/dishes.
Outside of work, I'm an experienced camper and backpacker/overnight trekker; I feel comfortable working outside and navigating in weather of all kinds. I'm also Wilderness First Aid and CPR certified! I love working with others and bonding within team roles, but I also enjoy solitary work for the peace it offers. Over my years of experience, I've done my fair share of manual labor, but I have also appreciated the opportunities for social work --- interacting with guests and customers. I like to think that there isn't much I wouldn't do, and I love getting the opportunity to add new skills to my repertoire!Age

What else ...
In the past few years, my friends and I have incorporated board game nights into our lives, which has been a ton of fun. Besides my hobbies mentioned above, I love to fish (and if I'm lucky, actually catch them), sightsee, and listen to music; lately I've been listening to a lot of Carol King, Shakira, and Stevie Wonder. I'm an avid reader, with recent fixations on mystery novels and books about mountaineering. I love to knit, and am hoping to learn how to read actually knitting patterns soon (another language to work on!). My friends and I love to go on run, hike, camp, and swim together. Just a few months ago, several of us trained for and ran a half marathon together! I'm also open to picking up new hobbies! Most recently, I've been playing ping pong with coworkers --- not my strongest suit --- and foosball --- one of my stronger suits, certainly.
