Description
Hello, my name is Jamie and I am a geography graduate who recently found myself stuck in an office job, dreaming of the great outdoors and wanting to escape!
For the past few years I have been trying to figure out who and what I am supposed to be as a corporate environment just doesn't cut it for me, and I have felt a yearning to live a life that is real and closer to nature.
I have become deeply interested in the ideas of permaculture, and one day want to have my own land in somewhere Ireland in order to live a meaningful and sustainable a life as possible.
I would love to spend more time on small holdings, farms and ranches in Canada to learn as many skills as possible from people already living this life so I can practice them myself. I am willing and able to get my hands dirty, just point me in the direction of the job that needs done!Interests

On my trip so far in Canada I have done a wide variety of tasks, in the gardens I have been learning how to plant and harvest vegetables and maintain them through weeding, building and placing supports. I have also been taught how to chop and stack firewood, weed whacking, digging trenches, and hopefully I will learn more about animal husbandary.
Since I was a child I have always been interested in gardening and I believe I have a bit of a green thumb, growing sunflowers, runner beans and recently tomatoes which are not easy to grow in a damp Irish climate!
I regularly help out at home, I enjoy cooking meals for my family and recently have been exploring different recipes to use my homegrown tomatoes with, I highly recommend shakshuka if you haven't tried it :)
From the past 2 and a half years at my job and at university I have gained plenty of experience working with people collaboratively and independently to complete tasks.
I also used to be a member of a youth organisation for young boys for 14 years where I would look after and help plan activities with the boys.Age

What else ...
When I am not at work I enjoy going for long walks and hikes with my family and trying to see as much of the beautiful Northern Irish scenery as possible.
I play the guitar and have been playing for 10 years being entirely self taught and would love to sit by a campfire playing songs and watching the stars above.
I am able and comfortable to work in groups with people to get a job done and hang out, as well as enjoying time to myself to read, play music and appreciate nature. Some more information
