Description
Hello and welcome to our profile :)
We are new in the workaway team, but already super excited to get involved into this worldwide community. We are Mario (35 years young) and Julia (34) from the city of Bochum, located in the Ruhr Valley in the west of Germany. Mario just finished his teacher training programme and now is a qualified teacher of mechanical engineering for vocational colleges. Julia has completed studies of social science and peace and conflict studies and has been working as a legal counsellor for refugees for the past five years. Both of us love their jobs, BUT, we felt that our lives mean more to us than working and living at the same place year after year, from 9 to 5.
For the upcoming 2 years (starting in August 2022) we want to enjoy our freedom as much as possible as we don't have any bigger obligations to fulfill (yet) at home. AND both of us love travelling, meeting new people, new cultural environments, new perspectives, new challenges. This is why we came up with the idea of joining the worldwide community of workawayers. We want to get involved into diverse places and meet different people with different backgrounds and get involved into new fields of work. Hence, we're mainly interested in farming / gardening, maintenance/ repair work of almost everything, creative work, cooking, animal care (Julia loves donkeys A LOT!) and overall house work.
In our free time we like to be in nature, we love climbing and trekking / running / yoga/ meditation / diving. This is why we mainly will try to choose spots which are closely located to climbing/ hiking areas.
We are humorous, easy going, reliable and energetic people, ready to seek new adventures in this big world full of beautiful humans and environments.
Generally spoken we are interested in social and environmental issues, politics, human and animal rights issues, photography... and more.
Concerning our hosts we are open minded, but a respectful, antiracist, antisexist and antihomophob general standing is important to us. Both of us are tolerant people and so do we expect it from others.
Feel free to contact us if you have any questions, we are looking forward to get involved into the workaway landspace asap :)Interests

Mario holds a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, studied sports and holds a Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering for becoming a teacher.
Julia holds a Bachelor Degree in Social Science and a Master degree in Peace and Conflict Studies. She has been working on political issues for the Refugee Council of her state and afterward has been working more practical in the field of legal counseling of refugees from all over the world. She has been working as a volunteer in a school for blind and multiple handicapped children and adult in Thailand after high school for 10 months, participated in various internships in SEA and been conducting field research in Thailand’s biggest refugee camp at the Thai-Myanmar border in 2014.
Both of us love to be active and to do sports, mainly outdoor! Mario has been working as fitness trainer and climbing teacher during his studies for years. Furthermore, he is technically gifted.
Julia likes being creative and has various experiences in the work field of NGO/ CBO work, such as working with political prisoners and refugees in SEA.
We used to be proud parents of more than 40+ beautiful plants in our flat and think we have quite "a green thumb" for plants. Sadly, as we cancelled our flat due to travelling and needed to get all the stuff out, we had to pass them to their new stepparents, our friends ;) We made sure they're in safe hands.
Julia is generally interested in photo journalism and held an exhibition of her own photographs in the past. Both of us can handle a computer properly and drive a car safely.
We are openminded people and excited to discover skills we never though we had!Age

What else ...
Mario loves board games, juggling, playing with his Kendama and meditation. Julia likes swimming and yoga, but isn't flexible at all (yet!) :D Both of us are into music.

From day one we felt very well welcomed into the family.
The accommodation in the caravan is very comfortable and clean, as is the bathroom in the garden.
The food was good and varied. Renata and Peter were open to “special requests”.
We mainly helped in the garden and… read more
We spent 3 weeks with Ora and Daniel and enjoyed our stay so much. They are very caring people, friendly and welcoming. They live in a beautiful typical Thai neighborhood not far from the city center. The volunteers house is separate and quite small, but has everything one needs, even its own bathroom. The work was comparatively very… read more
