  • Description

Kia ora friends. I'm Izzy, a nomadic Kiwi who has found herself rather unexpectedly back in New Zealand after several years of traveling overseas. As with many of us, the pandemic presented a fork in the road for me, and I took the road home, shortly after beginning to settle down in Australia.
Over the past few months I have been in the Far North, working at the local mandarin orchard and landing back on my feet. It's been a time of deep reflection, and integration of the experiences had in other lands and cultures. I now prepare to move forward, to begin a journey of exploration in my homeland.
I have used workaway and similar platforms a lot on my travels, and have had some of the most enriching times of my life through them. My most passionate area in life is in meeting other humans, sharing our stories, learning from and connecting with one another. I am so excited to be involved in more Workaways here in New Zealand!
I am a capable and hard worker, I'll always give anything a go and love to be constantly learning. My focus now is to learn about sustainability, and how it really works in practice of everyday life. I love physical work and getting my hands dirty, so I will be looking for workaways with garden or eco-build projects and the like. I'm especially interested to learn more about permaculture.
A more specialised skillset of mine is in the area of horsemanship. I've been working with horses since I was about 12, and have been in a variety of roles, including trail guiding, teaching children to ride, riding therapy, track riding, and can ride English, Western, and bareback, which is my most deeply enjoyed. I am coming back into working with horses now, having had a year-long hiatus in which I really examined my relationship to horses. I have now come to the decision that I only wish to go further in natural horsemanship, so I can truly be in harmony with these wonderful creatures.
I have many other areas of interest, language being a major one, and am fluent in German, which is something I'm always happy to teach when people are interested :) I also love music, and practising guitar playing and singing.
I am so looking forward to meeting you, to sharing in life with you in this beautiful land of Aotearoa!
