  • Description

Hello! My name is Ira, and my biggest passion is traveling. By profession, I’m a programmer, but right now, I’ve decided to take a long break from work to fully immerse myself in new experiences and explore places I’ve long wanted to visit. I don’t just want to be a tourist—I want to be part of local life, volunteer, and make real connections. That’s why I found Workaway, which seems to offer exactly what I’m looking for in my travels.

I’m new to this platform but definitely not new to traveling. For the past three years, I lived as a digital nomad, working remotely while exploring different cultures. So far, I’ve traveled to more than 20 countries across Europe, but I’ve realized that what truly fulfills me is engaging with people, learning from them, and contributing in meaningful ways.

A few years ago, I did a gap year in Norway, volunteering in a local kommune. It was a life-changing experience where I learned about cultural diversity, teamwork, and practical skills while helping the community. I’ve also volunteered at music and historical reenactment festivals because I love seeing how events come together behind the scenes and working as part of a team.

Beyond that, I have experience with hands-on work, whether it’s helping with animals, crafting, setting up events, or assisting with outdoor activities. I’ve worked as a kayak instructor, helped with horses, and participated in various artistic and creative projects. I’m passionate about art, music, and storytelling—I play the shamanic drum, practice throat singing, and love creating things with my hands. I also train in Krav Maga, enjoy hiking, and appreciate any opportunity to learn something new.

In general, I’m a quick learner, an optimist, and a people person. Whether it’s helping with daily tasks, contributing to a creative project, or assisting at a festival, I’m eager to be involved. I’m excited to meet new people, exchange cultures, and create unforgettable experiences along the way!
