My next destination:
Santa Cruz, CA, United States View allDescription
Howdy,
Ian here. For the past year and a half I've been working remotely and traveling around the country. But I just quit my job last month to get outside and enjoy another beautiful summer. I’m living out of my van conversion and traveling the US right now. I’m fairly handy at this point, after building out my van conversion. But I’m plenty able and always craving new experiences. So, even if the work in mind isn’t in my wheel house I’m excited to learn. Above all else though, I’m really excited to meet new people. That’s been my favorite aspect of traveling the US and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon!
In my free time I really enjoy working out, playing basketball, and going to concerts. I myself am an awful singer, but I still love seeing live music performances. Maybe it's how I live out my dream vicariously. I also like fishing and dancing (again, both things I love but suck at). I am definitely a dog person but cats have actually been slowly growing on me for the past few years. I also love finding and exploring abandoned buildings. I think there's a lot of beauty in decay. Lastly, I would just warn that I have a terrible habit of giving myself haircuts. If you happen to see me after a haircut please just play nice and say you like it.
As for some background info, I am an only child and I've lived my whole life in the US. I grew up on the east coast but after college I’ve found myself on the west coast more and more. Like I mentioned, I’m living out of my van that I converted into a camper. I’ve been traveling around the US for the last 11 months but I’m ready for a bit more consistency at a good Workaway. I'm not sure if I've said too much or too little. But if you have any questions, I am an open book, so please ask! And I look forward to hearing from you soon!Interests

I know Spanish at a beginner’s level but I would love to learn more. But I am really open to learning any language. Wherever I end up going, I will try to learn as much of the language before arriving, so that I can gain experiential practice once I arrive.Skills and knowledge I'd like to share or learn

Just to preface, I am always willing and able to learn. In the past year I’ve really honed my power tools, building, and electrical skills. Growing up, I did a lot of hands on work around the house with my Dad. So it’s been a long time coming. I like to think he’s proud of my recent learnings!
I help out with my little cousin whenever my family comes into town, so I have some experience with childcare, but nothing extensive. I am a very good organizer, I like to keep things in a specific order. That can range from just folding clothes around the house to making spreadsheets to keep things up to date and organized.
As for technical skills, I am proficient in a variety of softwares and specialize in marketing. I actually was working for a marketing agency for a while. So, I definitely excel here.
I’ve also done my fair share of gardening projects and yard work. At the end of the day, I am a very adaptable and physically able young person willing to help out and learn wherever necessary.Age

Everybody in the house was super cool, kind, and understanding. Communication was great, so tasks were very straightforward and doable. The projects were fun and the hours were really reasonable. If I didn't… read more
