  • Description

    Hi Everyone,

We’re Harry and Morgan from Yorkshire, UK. We are a couple in our mid twenties and hoping to widen our experience and knowledge on sustainable living and farming as we travel. We are planning a break from work to travel South East Asia in 2024 and looking to spend time volunteering to meet like-minded people and help out with some amazing projects.

We will be travelling as a couple from March 2024 but from November to March Harry will be volunteering as a solo traveller.

    Harry -
I’m Harry from Yorkshire, UK and taking a break from my job as a structural engineer to explore my other interests, sustainable living and farming.

I’m hoping to spend as much time outdoors as I can and love to work on DIY projects, caring for animals, and gardening. I really enjoy cooking, especially with home grown ingredients and hoping this will become easier to get more of through workaway!

I grew up in the countryside and raised chickens, ducks and pigs with my family as well as growing fruit and veg in the garden. After working as an engineer for a while now I can’t wait to get back to the simpler life and spend more time doing the things I love.

I am an avid hiker and love to climb as well. My dream is to have my own self sufficient farm so I am aiming to spend as much time as I can while volunteering to learn the skills needed to make this happen.

While I am taking an indefinite break from my career to pursue this, I would love to find workaways in Europe and South East Asia which provide opportunities to work with my hands and to learn all the secrets to self sufficiency

    Morgan -
Hi I’m Morgan, I am a qualified specialist speech and language therapist with 2 years of experience in the NHS and have extensive experience working with children and adults. I feel very passionately about helping others and have spent the last year of my career delivering therapy to those following stroke, brain injuries and other medical conditions.

I am a keen painter and love to write, so would love to involve myself in volunteer opportunities where I can use my skills and get involved with creative projects.

I grew up on a commercial farm until the age of 18 so I am looking forward to working outside again and spending more time caring for animals and contributing to farm work.

I love walking, spending time at the beach, swimming in the sea and baking. If you are in need of a carrot cake then you know where to find me.

Please get in touch if you feel like we would be a good fit for you!

  • More details about your skills

Harry- I have a structural engineering degree and industry experience and I have picked up some skills from DIY projects with my family, mainly wood working. I built an aviary and a wooden gazebo with my dad. I am a great problem solver with scrap materials and comfortable using power tools.

I have worked as a landscaper in the past and managed a small orchard over one summer season, so I have a wide range of gardening skills as well. I am great with animals as I have raised chickens, ducks and pigs and had lots of different pets over the years.

I can speak some french and intermediate Spanish, having learnt both at school and spending 5 months travelling central and South America last year I gained a lot more confidence in my speaking ability.

Fitness is another strength I have, so I am very capable of physical labour and farm work. I have worked in a lot of different teams in lots of different jobs so I am a confident team worker as well.

Morgan - I am a speech and language therapist so I’m very good at working with people. I have worked with children and adults, including people with learning difficulties. I work in a health care setting and have training in first aid.

I love to paint in my spare time and I am a creative person so can help out with any creative projects and decorating.

For 3 months I worked as an Au Pair in Massa, Italy. It was an amazing time and I learnt a lot about caring for children in another language. My family showed me a lot about Italian life and is something I would love to experience again from workaway. I also helped out as a tutor for school children who spoke English as a second language, to help them learn enough English to pass their exams.
