Description
I am Hannah, a 22 year old student from Germany, who studies in Dresden to become an English and Arts teacher for grammar schools.
I am an adventurous person, who needs to be on the move constantly, much like a dog having the "zoomies". I love nature and being outside, that includes going on hikes, doing work in the garden, going for a swim, climbing, riding a bicycle, sailing and a lot more. I am also eager to try out new things and meet new people, which is quite easy for me since I am an extroverted person, who likes to talk a lot and joke around.
Whenever I need to calm down and/or find my inner peace, I enjoy drawing, painting, crocheting and dancing, since I am a very creative person.

I speak German and English fluently, can understand some Spanish and Russian and know some common phrases in Esperanto. Since I am becoming a language teacher and have tutored some kids, I know how to work with people (and how to teach them English).
I know how to use basic power tools, since my dad only has daughters and taught us whatever a son needs to know and I regularly clean up after my family's alpacas, so I don't fear to get my hands dirty.
Additionally, I have painted walls before, I often paint signs for a club I participate in and have illustrated a children's book.
As a job, I work as a support for the webpage of my university, so I know how to manage a website, help other people out when they have questions and have some knowledge about corporate design.

I love interacting with new people, playing games and spending time together. Since I regularly do sports, I am strong (even if I don't look like it), so I am able to do some heavy duty work (which is suited for women).
I am allergic to most pet hair, but I only need to sneeze because of it, therefore I do not really care about it.
Even though I stated that I am a smoker, I am currently trying to minimize or even stop my smoking habits. I will not smoke without permission and care about other peoples health, I just enjoy an occasional cigarette to calm down nerves or decompress after a long day.

I am looking for a stay in order to accomplish my mandatory stay abroad, which I need for my English studies. But overall, I am excited to meet new people, visit new places and make great memories.

She offended my works of art, without even creating an environment for discussion, as a proper art teacher should do. She damaged my property, and based her theories on google. Due to our unpleasant experience while staying with this host, we sadly cannot recommend this stay.
In terms of WorkAway standards, the placement fell short. Days off were limited to one per week only, and we mostly couldn’t work at the same time, minimizing time for shared afternoon activities. Kitchen facilities were minimal, with… read more only one working cooking plate, which made preparing meals difficult. Clive mentioned these aspects before our arrival, but not in a way that would be representative of the actual living conditions. Although we knew that food was not being provided, we did not know that there was no drinking water available. We were told we could drink the tap water, which the host doesn’t even drink himself (and Google also strictly tells you not to). Doing strenuous labor for 4h (e.g. chipping plaster off of walls) and not being provided with water seems inhumane.

The living conditions were very poor and not as described in the profile. The house was dirty and dusty, with mold in the bathroom, a washing machine that smelled strongly of rotten fish, and limited or ineffective cleaning supplies. The mop was so dirty it spread grime instead of cleaning, and basic things like sponges or cleaning agents were rarely available. Several of us ended up buying our own products just to make the space livable #redacted#
Ants were a constant problem, in the kitchen, bedrooms, and even inside the beds. #redacted# The air was unpleasant, ventilation was impossible because the window was barely reachable due to the clutter, and the environment felt unhealthy and unsafe.

The host frequently displayed unpredictable moods and temper outbursts, sometimes over very small issues. He would change his mind about rules or expectations from one day to the next, leaving volunteers confused and often being blamed for things that weren’t their fault. (E.g. one day we were told to use food in the fridge and got yelled at if not, the other day he got mad because we used the food in the fridge).
Communication was inconsistent, and misunderstandings were often met with raised voices or insults. #redacted#

Another major issue was Clive’s behavior towards women. He often made openly sexist comments, such as saying that one of the female volunteers should be given cleaning tasks only because she “wasn’t good for anything else.” He also has various paintings of naked women and almost pornographic scenes hanging around the house, which creates an uncomfortable environment, especially for women.
The host also made comments behind our backs, for instance talking badly to a potential workawayer while we were in another room. This behavior was not only unprofessional but also disrespectful.

Overall, Clive often blamed others for problems, rarely acknowledged his own responsibility, and created a very negative atmosphere in the house. We did not feel welcome during our stay and therefore wouldn’t recommend this host.
