Description
Oh hi! I’m Yvonne. Who am I?
Well, mostly I’m just like you. Living out my human life to the best of my ability. Seeking purpose, love, and authentic connections.
I grew up in the Greater Toronto Area in Canada. Growing up, my parents weren't wealthy in the financial sense but they were in other ways. My Dad was a social worker who was either running an after-school program at the Recreation Centre or working at a group home so I had quite a unique social circle and we never knew who he might bring home for dinner because they didn’t have anywhere else to go. My Mom ran a kennel that boarded up to 50 dogs and 25 cats. We lived on the property so I would work at the kennel and absolutely love animals! This gives you an idea of who my role models were and part of how I became who I am today.
For many years I got caught up in corporate life, working 10-12 hours a day and commuting for 2-3. I'm happy that's over. I raised 2 daughters who are grown now and this past year, amid a pandemic, I started my own business... https://www.instagram.com/happypathhealing/
I have been on a path of self discovery over the last 3 years, focused on exploring my personal passions and realizing that life is about the journey, not the destination.
I’m dedicated to enjoying that journey as I travel the world over the next 12 months (or more) connecting with different people and experiencing different cultures.
I hope to meet and connect with you!Interests

What else ...
My Dad is black. This may seem like an odd thing to share. Some may think "ya, so?", but growing up in a bi-racial family is something that I am so lucky to have experienced. He's not my biological father but he's been my Dad since I was born and I didn't really start to realize that people thought we were different until I was about 7 or 8 years old and friends started asking questions. The strong women and men I was raised by, and around were inspirational to me. Witnessing family members being mistreated because of their skin, or being mistreated myself was painful but it creates a deep compassion in a human being and a desire to help make a difference. A desire to understand cultural differences and find the common thread that binds us all.
