Hi there!

About myself: My name is Vivien, I am a 25 year-old Hungarian woman.
After I graduated from university I worked for 1.5 years at a civil engineering office but I am not sure this is my path. So I decided to try workaway and I would like to learn new skills and I want to improve my English.

This year I volunteered:
* in a zoo in Hungary
* in a permaculture garden in Hungary
* in a permaculture garden and food forest in Austria
* with a kind family in Austria, cutting trees
*in Denmark and I painted window frames and helped around the house
and now I am looking for new adventures.:)

I love to learn new skills.
I can imagine my future in the countryside so I am interested in learning about that.
I like hiking, swimming, and doing sports.
I like gardening, being in the nature, doing DIY stuffs, I like to craft, crocheting.
I love music and I love singing. I used to sing in a choir in high school and I play ukulele basics.
I love to drive.

I am an introvert person so I think workaway is the best way to challenge myself and improve my social skills too.
I am also understanding, open-minded and it is really important to me that if there is a conflict we can talk about it honestly and open.

Vivien and I met as "Last minuters" on Workaway and soon agreed to get together. At first I thought that she migh be rather shy, but I was wrong. I never had any moment when I found her cautious about work or not ready for conversation.

In her welcome pack Vivien could choose a variety of garden tasks to complete in the approximately 10 days in… read more Börstig. This was good and she mixed ongoing tasks with shorter "one-offs". Despite the cold and grey weather she worked hard outdoors and completed the enormous work of sweeping all the autumn leaves from our extensive grass/lawn areas. Not the most exciting job, but Vivien completed it conscientiously. I think she enjoyed driving the ride-on mower most of all. Her other ongoing task was to cut back a rampant multi-stemmed bush in our woodland area. This required secateurs, hand saws, and a mini chain saw.

Shorter jobs undertaken and completed without extra gudance and using initiative were restacking and organising fire wood logs, attaching chains to the mower wheels, entertaining our active "Cockerpoo" dog, sweeping up horse chestnuts from the driveway and on her last day - despite rain - starting to paint the wood walls of a plant raised bed.

Vivien was a delight to have around and quickly became a member of our family, taking meals together and on some evenings playing board games after supper. Our 18 year old son enjoyed her company in the games.

During her stay personal reasons meant I had extra car commuting helping my wife and at the same time we all caught colds: it was a blessing that Vivien gladly and very competently agreed to drive some of the long journeys for us. Thank you!

Over meals we chatted about a variety of topics and world affairs and shared our perspectives from very different upbringings. We agreed, sharing in this way is one of the best aspects of Workaway.

We ate typical Swedish foods and explored 3,500 year old barrow graves, 1000 year old churches, and looked at Rune stones, and explored rivers, lakes and a huge abandoned quarry of strange flat rocks. We laughed a lot, shared our wonder of nature and took photographs.

Her favourite activity might have been lighting and maintaining our Swedish 'kakelugn' tiled stove and cuddling up beside it on a cold night!

Vivien was a fantastic worker and friendly personality. She never complained about our isolated life style and worked hard, despite a bad cold, There was nothing I could fault! Even when she left her room was neat and tidy and clean.

She is thoroughly recommended and we would welcome her back any time - as a worker or as a guest in our B&B.

I spent a little more than 2 weeks with Peter and his family in the autumn.

Vivien stayed with us for a little over two weeks. It was an absolut pleassure to host her. Vivien is very polite and easy going.eager to help and a very fast learner. She is always welcome if her path takes her through denmark again

Vivian stayed with us for just one week, as she had to leave for a sports event afterward. Despite the short duration, we are extremely happy that she chose to spend time with us. Sharon's animal sanctuary proved to be a very good place for my first workaway experience.
I spent 3 weeks there and I have learned a lot about animal care.
