  • Description

Hello!! I'm in my first year at university studying for a degree in French, and have just joined Workaway in order to spend some time in France and practise my language skills. With a lot of lessons during my final years at school moved online during the pandemic, I had less time to speak French face-to-face with my peers, and less opportunity to travel during the holiday before starting university. Approaching the end of my second year, I'd love to take the time this summer to speak some French abroad while also helping others in a completely different environment.

In my spare time, I particularly enjoying playing netball and going for runs or cycle rides, as I always appreciate any time spent outdoors. My friends would describe me as creative and organised member of the group, as I'm often the one who will rally everyone together to try something new or have fun!

More details about my language interests
I am very keen to speak French during my stay to get used to more colloquial and daily conversations! I currently study French at Oxford University in England where I get to study a lot of French literature and philosophy. I'll be going on my year abroad in September - starting in Montpellier where I'll be studying for a semester, but I'd love to get some French speaking practise in this summer! I am also happy to speak/teach English to anyone who would also like to practise their language skills.

  • More details about your skills

I have previously worked at a sports club during the summer holiday for children aged 4-12 years old, where my job included organising games outside for the children and supervising indoor activities like arts and crafts. More recently I volunteered at my local library, where, as part of a plan to encourage more young people to read and enjoy doing so, I would talk to the children who would come in about their books. I worked at a Summer School in Oxford last year, so have a lot of experience with working with young people.

Before starting university, I studied English, History, French and Art for my A-level studies. In my final year at school, I tutored younger students in History and French, and so have some experience with organising sessions in a lesson-like format, and I would be happy to help others improve their English too!

I am very passionate about art and still enjoy painting in my spare time or doing other fun, creative projects like making my own greeting cards or decorating the house for a birthday party, and so I think I could be useful for any aesthetic projects or DIY.
