  • Description

    Hey there!
I'm Gabriela, but everyone calls me Gabby. I'm 29, half French half Chilean and a digital nomad.
Travelling and connecting with people has always been a big part of my life, so much that it is hard for me to stay in the same place for too long. My curiosity of the world is unlimited and I wish I could see it all. That deep desire led me to create my freelance activity, allowing me to work remotely and so, to be able to move wherever and whenever I want. My current goal is to experience different jobs, cultures and lifestyles through long stays and volunteering experiences, to learn something new every day and keep my mind open.
I love to meet new people, listen to their story and get lost in long conversations with them. I believe everyone has something unique to tell and to learn from others' life stories.

Some facts to get to know me a bit more:
    - I am a big cinephile and am always listening to my favourite movies and series soundtracks.
    - I love to hike and the mountains are definitely my happy place.
    - Spending time with my friends and family is very important to me, although I chose a lifestyle that doesn't allow me to see them very often.
    - I journal and write stories whenever I have the time, hoping to do something with it one day.
    - I like to cook and share nice meals with people (I am a vegetarian).

I hope to meet you soon!

More details about my language interests
I've always had a passion for languages and would be more than happy to learn a new one with locals. At the moment, I would like to concentrate mainly on continuing my practice of Italian (I am proficient) and learning Portuguese and Gaelic, but I'm open to discover any other language and help others learn the ones I master.

    Professional experiences:
I have worked in different fields and countries, first as an Event Production Assistant for an Event Agency in Santiago de Chile, then as a Press Officer for a PR agency in Paris, and finally as an Events and Communication Officer for an NGO, also in Paris.
In 2022, I decided to leave the classic 9 to 5 life behind as I wanted to get a more dynamic and exciting daily life. I moved to Rome where I started to work in a hostel as a volunteer. What was supposed to be a 6-month stay turned into a much longer experience as I absolutely loved the position and more generally the tourism and hospitality industry. I learnt Italian and used my free time to create my freelance company (copywriting, translation and videomaking). I am now a digital nomad, working and travelling at the same time.

    Volunteering experiences:
I have volunteered in an eco village in Mashpi, in the Ecuadorian rainforest. There, I helped the locals in their daily work (planting, harvesting, cooking, cleaning, animal care) and in the development of projects of environmental education and nature conservation.
I also volunteered in a guest house and dairy farm in Río Negro, South of Chile, where I helped with the daily chores (cleaning, cooking, animal care, cow milking) and took photos and videos for the family to use on their social media.
More recently, I volunteered at a hostel in Rome for two years. My duties were: reception (check ins, payments, providing information to guests), hosting events and socialising with our guests, and more generally, making sure that things were in order, clean, and running well. I have also made some videos for the Instagram account of the hostel. During my time in Rome, I also volunteered at an equestrian center for a couple of months, where I helped to take care of the horses.
Finally, I am currently volunteering at a seal pups rehabilitation center in the Scottish Highlands.

  • What else ...

Having a Chilean dad and a French mom, I've been travelling since I was a baby, following my family between the European and South American continents. This dual nationality opened my mind to the world from a very young age and gave me the desire to learn more about other countries, cultures and languages. I have backpacked a lot in Europe and South America, sometimes for short holidays, sometimes for months.
My favourites so far: the glaciers of Patagonia, the Scottish Highlands, the Ecuadorian rainforest, the Peruvian mountains, the French Pyrenees and Rome.
