Description
Hi,
I'm a traveller and after a break I'm coming back to my authentic lifestyle. I have been a nomad in England first and in Africa then. In the meanwhile I signed up to the university of Bologna and after a year in Bologna I'm back in the world.
I am eager to help in the chores needed. I have experience in performing, teaching languages, babysitting, gardening, livestock, and a little in the kitchen. I'm enthusiastic of learning about different things! As a traveller I am happy as well to share my experiences and enjoy time together, I like to know new people and get to know what they are doing and what they enjoy. I feel I've been living in a box for the last year and now I am really keen to open up to the vastness of the world. Also I would love to get the opportunity to try the food, see museums, temples, performances, so to experience different sides of the culture I'm delving into.
If you want to know more about me and my background please keep reading :)
I'm a performer looking for experiences and environments to feed my art. I've been studying for the last year at the University of Foreign Studies of Bologna (coming back to my hometown), specifically Spanish and Japanese, which has been really nurturing as it gave me knowledge, discipline and a grounded approach to life. But now I feel it's time to take a break, go back to my nomad life and explore more, get out of the actual environment in order to put myself in a different setting.
In order to do that I have two plans: first I'll join a festival in Italy as a performer, then I'm heading to Japan for a travel that will last 6 months. These two plans are aligned with two goals, which I hope I can make them meet.
On one side, I need to understand more deeply who I am as a performer. What are my instruments? Which ones I want to develop? What is my way as an artist in a wider sense? In what surroundings I can thrive? A festival sounds like a good start for my personal research.
On the other side, I'm in love with Japan, since I was 10 I used to listen to Japanese music, read Japanese novels, watch anime and so on... Now I'm 33 and has finally come the right time to go to Japan to delve into this country I love so much. During these 6 months my plan is to explore around Japan, see different environments, be them rural or urban, and find situations where sociality is at the core, in other words, I'm looking for communities. I have already lived in different communities in England, Peru, Scotland, Senegal, Guinea and Benin, and this sounds like the way I want to live. I miss the sharing, sharing the meal, sharing the spaces, sharing the time around a fire until night. I miss the closeness to people.
How could these two dimensions meet? I'm thinking of artistic communities and festivals, where the creation is not bound to an individual effort, but to a cooperative connection. I would like to find this kind of reality in Japan, to experience it, and write about it in my thesis. As a starting point for my research i would like to know more about the different kinds of performances that Japan offers being open to folklore and rural performances.Interests
