Hi, I´m Franka. In this gap year finally have the time to explore the world and make new unforgettable memories.
I´ve always loved to travel and getting to konow new cultures. I went on a exchange to live with a host family and study in England for half a year for example, and recently I went on a hiking and wild camping adventure in Norway which was one of the greatest experiences I've ever had!
When I´m in nature I am happy and relaxed, and I really enjoy raising plants and cooking good foods. Art is another passion of mine. I like creating, observing and talking about art. Another hobby of mine is music. I play in bands and an orchestra where both the community and the music brings me joy. Being active (going for runs, bike rides, working out,...) is also really important to me.
The fact that I care about this planet quite a lot plays a bit role in my life. I try to live mindful and in harmony with nature as much as possible. Thats one of the reasons I want to get more familiar with permaculture farming and stuff.
My interest in art and artists motivated me to start my workaway journey in the south of France, since many famous painters like Cézanne have created art there.
I am really looking forward to gaining new experiences, getting to know other people from all over the world, and getting to know myself a little more. Also creating a home for a short time with the host is something I am looking forward to.
It is important for me to give something back to my host, both on a interpersonal and work related level, so I will do my best to support the hosts in whatever way needed.

More details about my language interests
I am interested in learning spanish and french since I it helps to connect with locals and enables the opportunity to get a deeper understanding of their culture. I had french in school which was fun, but I would love to improve my skills so I´m able to communicate in a more natural way. Spanish is a beautiful language opening up many opportunities for cultural exchange, so I´d love to get a deeper knowlege than Duolingo courses in it haha In exchange I could offer helping someone learning German or English to get some speaking practice.

I like to DIY things. From knitting a scarf, sewing a dress, making jewellery, to building a shelf.
Even though I am far from professional I would say that I am able to do these things in a good way.
Also decorating, painting and organizing rooms are things I´ve done quite a few times.
Gardening has always been part of my life since my granddad has his own little apple tree plantage. I know how to use the basic tools and have collected more experience during the Workaways I've done so far.
Cooking, baking and the usual house chores are things where I can offer a hand as well.

I´d love to learn how to do pottery on a potter's wheel, practicing yoga more, and surfing :)
