  • Description

    Hi everyone!
We are Eszter & Liza, both 22 years old, from Hungary.
We started travelling together to spend our gap semester in a useful, yet fun way, so we can not only go on an adventure together, but also even help others in their day-to-day life or around the house. We love being in a multi-cultural environment, and we cannot imagine a better way to learn about cultural but also personal heritage and customs. „When in Rome do as the Romans do” and we want nothing else, but to have the most authentic and true experience, that is what motivates and moves us. All we want is reconnecting with nature and slowing down a little bit, this is what would bring us true happiness.
After the working hours we would love to explore the surroundings and would be thrilled to share this adventure with other workawayers too.
We are both outgoing and open to learning new skills.

Both of us are currently studying at Budapest Business School, our major is Tourism & Hospitality.
We have 1 more year in shcool to finish our bachelors, that is why we would like to have a little break before graudation.

    To discuss individually:
I, Liza, have worked in several hospitality units over the years: restaurants, bars and cafes usually as server, sometimes in the kitchen. I love cooking and baking, I also did a baking course couple of years ago and we learnt cooking at the university, as my minor is restaurant and hotel management.
In the past 2 years I have been working as a front office manager at a 4 star boutique hotel in Budapest, where communication and organization skills were emphasized.
I was lucky to have had experienced both physical and mental work over the years, so I would like to have more options to work on both, but in different fields during my travellings as a workawayer.
Playing and listening to music has been a vital part of my life, I have been playing the guitar since I was 7 and I also started the ukulele and piano a couple of years ago, but those are only self-taught:)
I tried many sports throught my whole life, but only dancing seemed like a fitting option for me, currently I do hungarian folk dance. Reading, painting and travelling truly helped me to discover myself and get to know more about the world, those are my favourite hobbies.

I, Eszter, have been working in the tourism and hospitality industry since I've started it. For 1 year worked in a caffé shop where I made coffee and different type of sandwiches, pretzels. Than for a couple of month I worked in a small restaurant as a waitress and I delivered the orders by car. After this I worked at the Cinema City for 1 and a half years where I worked at the buffet, prepared the food and beverages and also I worked at the café as well. My last job was an internship what I did for 6 month, I was an event organizer assistant and we organized weddings and business events.
AIn my free time I love doing sports, for example I did pole fitness for 5 years and besided that I attended gym classes and one I did very passionately, Hot Iron which is a workout combining weight lifting and cardio exercises.
Also my grandparents live with us so cooking is part of my everyday life and I would not say I am perfect at it but I enjoy doing it.

  • More details about your skills

We have already been in 5 countries, on 5 Workaways, so these adventures helped us to acquire some skills that were hidden until this point :)
In the South of France in an eco farm, learning about permaculture, gardening and landscaping, painting indoors and outdoors as well, feeding the pigs and the chickens and learning Dutch from our hosts 😁
Our next stop was Northern Holland, where we were helping out with the renovation of a 170-year-old house, learnt to use lots of different power tools, which we have never done (or seen) before. This of course seemed like a huge change in tasks for us, but we honestly loved this challenge, and our amazing hosts supported us in broadening our horizons, such as installing insulation and plasterboarding (drywalling) and preparing the bathroom for tiling. We have also been to Belgium at a horse farm, taking care of 11 horses, 4 cats and 2 dogs in rain, wind and cold :) We learned how to properly operate a tractor too, which proved to be a useful friend in the 3 weeks we spent there.
After that we joined an english couple in Spain to help them in renovating their house: prepared and painted the walls, as well as their doors and helped them upcycle several furniture for their beautiful future home, helped with some side tasks and heavy lifting, and of course the cleaning up and cooking too. We are always happy to prepare Hungarian dishes, or any of our favourites
Our latest adventure was in Austria, where we tried something new, DIY crafting, as the family was preparing for the upcoming Christmas market. We had the opportunity to prepare homemade cosmetics, take a swing at pebble painting and use our creativity to wrap and decorate all of them.

  • What else ...

We love board games and card games. We often have game nights with our friends, where we usually play our favourite ones, but sometimes one of us surprises the group with a new game. It would be fun to exchange card or board games with the hosts or other workawayers!:)
