Description
Hi!
My name is Erin, I am 20 years old, I'm from Brittany (if you like crêpes, I'm the right person to meet), I'm a student in English linguistics, literature and civilisation in the University of Rennes, where I've been living for two years now.
I love a lot of things like travelling, walking, riding a bike and music to name a few. I am also really interested in History (mainly French but also Irish and European) and enjoy discovering new countries and cultures.
I really like being around animals, I grew up in the countryside, surrounded by farms... with cows and donkeys as neighbours... and had A LOT of animals (rabbits, guinea pigs, cats...). But, as I am now living in the city for practical reasons, I miss it and am looking for a place to go to renew with cool countryside life and get away from the city while I can.
In my free time, I enjoy reading a book, playing boardgames or videogames all night long and laying on the floor having long conversations about anything with my friends.
Talking about friends, I don't have a lot of friends though I love meeting new people and so, making more friends.. My few friends describe me as a reliable, kind and quirky person (the adjective "crazy" is often mentionned as well).
I am also obssessed with music, I spend my time listening to music, reading about music (not the notes, I'm afraid), spending all the money I have in a ridiculous records' collection and most important *drumroll* : playing music with my band(s). Amongst my numerous hobbies, I think it is the one that is keeping me the busiest.
When I am working, I can be very serious and involved in what I do. I like to be on time, finish what I started and might sometimes be annoyingly perfectionist when I want to make it perfect, but not all the time.
I may seem shy at the beginning, but once I know the person in front of me or the environment, the real me appears and the fun starts. I'm making efforts to be more out going but can still face challenges sometimes... I really enjoy helping people, no matter how much effort it requires, you can always count on me!
When I am not working and focused, I often find myself in situations of chaos because of my 'original' ideas, which adds to the fun (--> see the pictures of me trying to climb a wall with a bike... )

Now, let's talk about my working experience and skills...
My very first job was in 2020 when I worked in a restaurant (traditional crêperie) in August and July, as a dishwasher and kitchen aid, and Summer 2021 mostly as a kitchen aid and dishwasher when needed. I used to help for the preparation in the morning and leave in the afternoon after all the dishes were cleaned and ready for the second service, classic.
Here, I learned how to handle pressure, and deal with unplanned events better.
In the rush moment, I often had to give up washing the dishes to go and help everyone, or give up my position in the kitchen to help the dishwasher who was in troubles, and once or twice had to help in the kitchen as well as washing the dishes when one of the employees didn't show up! Even though it wasn't a big restaurant (especially in 2020 with the pandemic restrictions) it was still difficult sometimes but we always managed to handle the situation together, this showed me the importance of team work and the satisfaction it provides to know that we can count on each other. I once broke a dish too, to mention the mistakes...
Last summer, I had my first workaway experience and worked abroad for the first time! I worked in a Bed and Breakfast as a domestic assistant for 9 weeks. The job was to clean the rooms once the guest had left and prepare them for the next guests. After a month I started ironing the sheets as well. I made a few friends and had an amazing time there.
Also, I am good at repairing things (sometimes in a unusual way, but it works) and manual working. As a kid, I used to help my father at making wooden games and DIY in the garden, it isn't much but it learnt me a lot and thanks to this, I'm not afraid of having splinters in my fingers!
What more... I think I said it all. I can also provide you two letters of recommendation (from the crêperie and bed and breakfast) if you want to have the employer's point of view of my work, feel free to ask!Age
