  • Description

I'm a 21 years old engineering student who took a gap year to learn new skills and discover the world.

I yearned to feel and experience more, and wished to see everything beautiful that's beyond my sheets of paper and maths problems. The world and its people are a treasure that I don't want to miss by burying myself in a career forever, especially while I'm still young !

I'm a very motivated and enthusiastic person who always desires to learn more of everything, and listen to what others have to teach. Everyone has unique stories to share, which make us who we are today.

I love physical activity in general, especially hiking and climbing ! I try to do some treks every now and then, alone or with friends.

I'm also in the army part time, in a mountain troops branch. I absolutely love the challenges that come with it and everything it teaches me ! It's the first leap of faith I've done in my life, and what made me realize there's so much more to it than work and studies.
It also made me so much better as a person, physically but also mentally. I've gotten to push my limits time and time again, and that's an incredible feeling. Serving my country and being helpful for others in any way is also an honour.

    My next projects are :

1/ To travel in different countries to learn different practical skills such as carpentry, construction, mechanics, farm work - anything that can teach me more and make me put my hands to good use instead of my mind for once, I'll happily do.

I love to discover more cultures and countries, but basic tourism has always felt superficial to me, so doing Workaway for that seems ideal to me !

2/ To travel in a Northern country to learn about sledding and experience life there.
To me, things have never felt as... right, as when out in the wilderness. And the arctic circle is a true beauty that I would like to experience more than anything, along with its culture and everything that comes with it.
I'm also used to the cold, obviously, from my mountain army days - and love snowy, or mountainous environments.

Then... I'm really, really curious and eager to learn about everything that surrounds sledding, mushing, and co. I can feel in my heart that it's something that will truly change something in me, for the best.
I absolutely love animals, had a couple of dogs and got some experience with horses, and getting to work with them would be such a joy. I have no issue with the physical activity and effort that comes with it - at the contrary, I find it very gratifying.
Finally, I'm also quite interested in learning new languages, if possible !

Thank you so much for reading all of my rambling - I'm not very good at knowing what to say in these kinds of things, honestly. If you're interested in me and can possibly offer me a chance, well, I'm grateful beyond words, and would be happy to get in touch with you.

Take care, and good day :)

  • More details about your skills

As mentionned previously, I have more than 2 years in experience in the army, mountain infantry and cavalry specialty. As such, I learnt the skills that come with it : living and navigating the wilderness and the logistics that come with it, general combat, radio communication, and first aids.
It also got me used to living with others and work in a team, take and give orders, as well as persevere through hardships and exhaustion.

I'm also, obviously, in very good physical condition, and not afraid to get my hands dirty at all. I like the feeling of sore muscles and a good day of work accomplished. I've always been quite broad shouldered for a woman, so it's always nice to put this to good use.

I dabble in practical mechanics, mostly on cars and the such, from army trainings as well as personal thinkering on my car and with my dad. Oh yeah, I have my driver license of course (manual), and own an old trusty car !

I also have a good level in theoretical sciences - physics, maths, chemistry, engineering... - from my studies, though I'm afraid it's not really relevant here. And I'm fine with that ! I took a break from this on purpose, after all.

Finally, I speak French and English fluently, and am an intermediate level at Spanish. I'm also starting to learn Norwegian, though it'll probably be a long journey.

  • What else ...

Honestly, I believe in talking directly rather than keep rambling about myself. It's quite unilateral, and we shoud interact as human beings whenever possible !

The only thing I'll add is that board games are a big YES. With some luck I may be able to teach you some card games, too.

And, a pun : why was the mushroom invited to the party ? I'll let you think about it :)
