My next destination:
Malaysia - from Jun 2025 until Sep 2025 View allDescription
This is my first time backpacking and visiting Asia, but I have plenty of experience volunteering. I'm Buddhist and the Dharma teachings are important to me in how I navigate my life. As such, you can trust that I will be a friendly, compassionate and a trustworthy person to have around! I love meeting people, learning about different cultures and developing new skills. I was an intensive care nurse for years, then I left my job to build a boat that I lived on. I'm practical, reliable and happy to turn my hand to anything if it will help others. I love nature and know a lot about animals, particularly marine life, and enjoy sharing facts and going on hikes. I have some DIY experience, plenty of experience looking after animals, gardening and working extensively with vulnerable adults.

More details about your skills
Most of my working life so far has been in social care and nursing, so I have strong people skills with a friendly, patient and non-judgmental approach. When I bought my boat it needed a lot of work and I had zero DIY experience but learned how to do off-grid electrics, plumbing, woodwork and plenty of other practical skills. While that might not be entirely relevant to your offerings as a host, I trust it demonstrates my ability to pick up new skills and a 'can-do' positive attitude. I can cook pretty well! I am a neat and tidy person. I've kept animals all my life and looked after them for other people, so I'm good with them, big or small. I've volunteered on gardening/permaculture projects and enjoyed this too.

What else ...
I neglected to mention I'm also very creative! I can paint with oils, have done some mural work before and have recently been learning lino-cut. I love making art and encouraging others to get creative.
