Ciao!

My name is Elliott, I am 22 years old and have just completed a degree in Philosophy, in London. The plan for the next year is to travel through Italy in the attempt to learn the language and meet new, interesting people.

I have interests abound: fine arts, literature, philosophy, music, sports (mainly football) and I look forward to exchanging discussion in these fields.

I can offer manual labour, babysitting, language help, computer help, writing help, teaching, philosophical discussion and a stocked music list. I have a driving licence and considerable experience living and working on farms. Moreover, I have much experience with children, including teaching and babysitting. One small demand is that there is lots to do and internet for my free time, wherein I often explore the web for articles, news etc..

Just some general information about myself; I am clean, respectful and relatively autonomous. That being said, I am extremely keen to stay busy during my stay, including visiting local landmarks, art galleries and meeting friends.

One more thing, I am hoping to play a high-level of football during my stay, with the ambitious hope that I can get paid enough to stay without the need for free accommodation. Though I admit that this final caveat need not be a necessary requirement.

A paltry feedback such as this would achieve little by way of description to the time I spent with this family, so I won't even attempt it. A less daunting task would be to highlight a few notable things and I for one (as Pino knows all too well) like to take the line of resistance so this is exactly what I will do.

Firstly, it should be said… read more that while this advertisement is listed as a work-live experience the former never imposed itself on the latter. The workload was always very light and given that the house was always in an impeccabile state there was little to clean around the house.

In regards to the English teaching, Pino was flexible and open-minded meaning that the content was, while at times; a little scattered, always fun and interesting. Lessons were done late in the evenings due to his work schedule which left me the day to explore Roma and whilst I, admittedly didn't make the absolute most of this freedom, Pino was very extremely helpful in his suggestions and even took the time to organise tours for me around Roma. Soon enough however, Pino was to realise that my nature prohibits me from doing too many strenuous activities unless it involves late night antics so catered for this by permitting me more freedom in the evenings, much to his dismay - i'm sure.

Another perk of this stay was the exquisite Italian food served each day cooked mainly by Antonina and at times, though slightly less aptly, by Pino! Besides from the food Antonina always did her best to make me feel welcome, which is never easy considering the language difference. On that note, I want to dedicate a special mention to her for helping me with my Italian language, I improved an enormous amount during my short time there!

On to the Camy and Tommy. Now I must watch what I say here, because keeping three rapscallion youngsters together in one house will always lead to trouble. And whilst Camy is certainly far more shrewd than Tommy I am still working out who the ring leader is! As the ol' saying goes however, if you can't see the culprit maybe its you. All jokes aside though, after a short period of time I feel like I have made two great friends for life. A special mention is dedicated to Tommy here for introducing me to his friends and making sure I felt comfortable early on - introducing me to all things Italian....

All in all I couldn't recommend this place more. Its a home away from home as the cliché goes. Now living in Roma there will be no doubt that I will pay regular visits to the family and hopefully continue my lessons with Pino.
