Hey, welcome to my profile :)

I'm Dixie Lu, an 18 year old half English half Belgian girl living in the South of France. I have just finished my studies in an art school in Toulouse, and am now on a gap year to discover more of the world. After a year of travelling I wish to go and study psychology in the UK.

After having had a lot of Workaway experiences as a child, while my parents were still travelling the world, I am now eager to discover more about different communities and cultures as a volunteer and on my own.
In the past 1O years, I have had many Workawayers come to my home to volunteer for the place me and my mum live in, so I've seen the host side, and understand how Workaway works.

I am an open minded person who is particularly interested in music (my main instrument being the violin), hiking, visiting new places, historic monuments such as churches, museums and cathedrals (especially things to do with the Middle Ages :)
I'm easy going and enthusiastic and am always keen to meet new people :)

I'm interested and am always willing to discover new things, gaining knowledge and new skills. I am known to be hard working and to get hooked on things that are new to me.

I hope to be able to learn a lot during my upcoming Workaway experiences and to be able to help you with whatever you have planed.

Even though by being only 18 I am not able to offer any professionalized skills, I am eager to help with any sort of work.

I live in the countryside of Southern France on a big property that needs a lot of upkeep. I am therefor familiar with the maintenance of a large property, dealing with things such as animals, weeding, gardening and a bit of woodwork :)

During my studies, I have been able to have two jobs where I have been known to be hard working and motivated :) These truly enriching experiences, working in a shop in Belgium for a month and in a Comedy club in London for another two months, have allowed me to be more independent and to gain working experience.

While I was working in the evenings in London, I also worked as a babysitter during the day for two kids aged 1 and 3. I am gentle and caring, and am keen to offer any sort of help. Whether it’s to do with kids for example, or with indoor or outdoor jobs.

I have also done a bunch of painting and decorating and love to do DIY stuff such as sewing, making jewellery or even little things like building a shelf :)

Cooking, baking and the usual household chores are things where I can offer a hand as well.

I hope to be able to help you with any jobs that need assisting :)

What else ...

As i've said before, i love meeting new people and learning about different cultures :) I'm open hearted and outgoing. I love making little things, weather it's sewing a top, decorating or making rings out of silver spoons :)

I love going out to see concerts, dancing and having great interactions with different people :) But i also love a rainy afternoon by the fire playing board games.

I'm passionate about different moments in history such as the middle ages, and of any music going from the 50s to the 90s.

I'm also good at being on my own. Reading a book or going out for walks to see the beautiful views :)
