Hello, my name is Alex. I'm a dual British/German national and am 30 years old.

I currently work as an online translator. I studied German, Dutch and Russian at university.

Meeting new people, providing help and seeing results gives me personal satisfaction and a sense of purpose - something which working from home on the computer doesn't necessarily offer!

As a keen walker, I love being in the outdoors as it helps clear my mind and reassess life. I don't own any pets at the moment but absolutely adore animals.

Since I have a linguistic background, I've always had a fascination for other cultures and languages. Learning from others and teaching others is what life is all about in my opinion.

Although I currently work from home as a translator, I have worked various jobs throughout my 20s.

My last 'official' job was in social care. This involved visiting elderly and disabled adults in their own homes to provide for their basic needs such as showering, getting dressed, preparing meals, washing up, monitoring medication and being observant to any changes in behaviour/health.

Some interpersonal skills that I've acquired from jobs working in a restaurant as a waiter and in a supermarket as a cashier include good communication, meeting deadlines, attention to detail, politeness etc.

I have good culinary/food hygiene skills as I cook at home mostly. I can prepare healthy vegetarian meals and have a particular fondness for Greek-inspired dishes.

I would also mention a basic level of general maintenance e.g. mowing the lawn, trimming hedges, cleaning surfaces, tidying up, painting.

I recently volunteered at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 when the event was held in my home city of Liverpool. It was a really positive experience to welcome so many people from different nations.
