  • Description

Hi! I’m Dana, a passionate traveler who loves using volunteering as a way to learn new skills and immerse myself in different cultures.

I’ve volunteered in a hostel in Albania, where I gained experience in reception, housekeeping, and interacting with guests from around the world. I also had the chance to explore the city of Tirana and nearby towns like Krujë and Durrës.

In Ireland, I spent six weeks on a rescue farm in County Kildare, where I learned how to care for pigs, sheep, and goats, as well as managing daily tasks with a large team of volunteers. I also became skilled in cooking for large groups, maintaining shared spaces, and working together to keep everything running smoothly.

After that, I spent a month in County Mayo, housesitting near Lake Feeagh. There, I took care of a dog and learned how to look after a house powered by solar panels and a hydraulic system. I also learned about forest management, helped build small shelters for animals, and prepared land to install tents by creating insulated, level ground. I spent a good amount of time organizing the construction workshop on-site — I truly enjoy sorting and bringing order to workspaces.

Currently, I’m volunteering at a Buddhist meditation centre in London. I'm living in community, learning how to meditate while helping to keep the space clean and welcoming. I also help with outreach by promoting activities around the city, welcoming guests, and registering new members of the community.

I’m not afraid of hard work, and I always approach new challenges with a positive attitude and a willingness to contribute. I enjoy both outdoor and city-based projects and thrive in multicultural environments. While I love meeting people from different backgrounds, I also value connecting with local traditions and ways of life.

I’m eager to keep learning, develop new skills, and help out in any way I can. Looking forward to my next adventure!

  • More details about your skills

I have a diverse set of skills and experiences that I believe would be valuable to any host. I’ve worked in customer service and sales, where I developed strong organizational and communication skills, including managing inventory, preparing orders, and handling customer queries. Additionally, I am a quick learner and highly adaptable, which allows me to take on new tasks with ease and enthusiasm.

Through my volunteering experiences, I have gained hands-on skills in animal care, including caring for rescue animals on a farm (pigs, sheep, and goats), as well as doing forestry work such as wood chopping and building animal shelters. I’ve also had the opportunity to work with large teams, where I learned about teamwork, cooking for large groups, and maintaining shared spaces.

My passion for nature and sustainability has always been a driving force, and I constantly seek eco-conscious ways of living. I am eager to continue learning about environmental practices, and I love being involved in projects that contribute to positive change. Volunteering has taught me how to manage different tasks and projects, adapt to new environments, and be resourceful.

  • What else ...

I love being outdoors, but I also enjoy the vibrant energy of cities. I like spending time with people, hearing about their life experiences, and I’m always up for a good conversation. Traveling is one of my passions, and I love to paint, read, and write. I read all kinds of books and enjoy talking about them and getting new recommendations. Watching movies and discussing them is another favorite pastime.

I’m always open to learning new things and would love to learn how to build things myself and develop more artistic skills. I have a degree in Applied Physics, so if you're into science, we can definitely talk about that! I also completed a bartending course, so I can mix cocktails if my host is interested.

I know how to use a sewing machine and sew by hand, which could be useful. I also enjoy cooking, but since I’m vegan, I only make vegan or vegetarian dishes.
