Since I'm new to Workaway, I'm open to trying new things but want to be useful! I love cooking and taking care of animals specifically but would also enjoy any tutoring or DIY help I can provide.

Description

Hiya! I'm Claire and I'm moving to Australia in February on my working holiday visa from Scotland.

A bit about me: I grew up in Inverness in the Highlands of Scotland and have lived in Edinburgh for the past 6 years after moving to study Biological Sciences 🌿 My plan is to travel to Australia initially, starting in Melbourne, and then settle where I enjoy most to start working. Since finishing University I've struggled to know what to do with my degree and it can be hard in the UK to be succesful in this area. However, Australia seems like such an interesting place to start and hopefully will be my launching pad.

I would consider myself an outdoorsy person, I love open water swimming when I can (the North Sea is freezing so I am looking forward to a bit of warmth!), I grew up on boats and surrounded by farm animals, going out dirt biking with my Dad and horseriding with my sister. I love being active and hopefully can enjoy some of these things with you, I'm very interested in getting into water sports while I'm out there. I am drawn to animals and I can look after a range of species if you have some cool pets needing to be looked after! I'm also really passionate about sharing my knowledge of Science and Biology and that could play into tutoring if that is something you need. That being said, I know how to have a good night in with some great home-cooked food, these are the best things in life in my opinion!

I am really looking forward to experiencing travel while feeling useful to someone and having a purpose even when I am miles away from home. I have been around Europe (France, Belgium, Spain, Ireland, Turkey, Bulgaria and Italy) but never as far as Australia which is both nerve-racking and exciting!

Harris is joining me in Australia in May, he's looking more for work experience related to his Architectural degree while experiencing a little bit of travel. He won't be joining on most workaways but would like the option if he gets the time! He's very good with technology and cleaning and is the most creative out of us two! He is amazing and calm and is so good at talking to anyone!
