I am an energetic and enthusiastic individual who is constantly chasing adventure and excitement. I have moved around (the USA) for the majority of my life, but grew up in the Adirondack Mountains of Upstate New York. I enjoy physical activity, problem solving, the outdoors, socialization, making music, sports and so much more. Coming from the wilderness and graduating with a bachelors of science in ecology I am very familiar interacting with nature. I am always in search of uncomfortable situations. This is where I experience the most drastic self growth. Meeting people and experiencing new lifestyles has given me the most rewarding memories I have and I cant wait to make many more!

This unique group has been operating for many years, fueling local woman, children, and communities with the ability to grow and prosper. During my stay, which lasted over a month, I was brought very close to the family. Monica is an incredible host and… read more treats every guest with the upmost respect. You will have the opportunity to be as involved with this family as you wish. They are constantly working on projects to better their program and always looking for new ideas! Whether you want to teach, cook, farm, build, or share any talents, there is a place for you at Monica’s Home. With absolutely delicious home cooked traditional meals 3 times a day, you’ll never be hungry. I tried finishing my plate every time in the begging, but by the end I had thrown in the towel. There are multiple guest bedrooms with privacy and electricity, which is a major luxury. However if you’re looking for less, you can always ask to pitch a tent or stay somewhere less glamorous. Truly any of your requests can be accommodated! One of the most impactful of the projects that they have is there brand new hospital. Being the only one of its kind in the area, it holds a lot of weight from local villages and communities. This family run establishment is entirely from the heart. I felt nothing but love and care during the entire duration of my stay. I couldn’t recommend these guys enough. After my multiple months in Uganda I found that nearly every person had some sort of non for profit organization. Some of them could be nothing more than a website with a donation button. But this family and their goals are legit. They are here to make a difference and leave and impact on their community and the people who need them the most.

On top of the actual impact you get to make and feel, you also get a real look into another way of life. They are very enabling and supportive of any adventure or exploration you would like to go on. My now good friend and Monica’s son, Emma, guided me through so much. He was like a brother to me, having my back and showing me his secrets to operating through the local area. You’ll have many offers to help out in Uganda, but known of them will give you the experience, care, and love like this one:)
