Hello all!

About Carmen:
My name is Carmen, a 31 year old (animal) physiotherapist that loves to spend time in nature.

After spending 5 months of volunteering in wildlife conservation in Africa in 2022, I decided to continue exploring more of the world! I spend some months in the Balkans, mostly in nature and in November 2022 I flew over to Australia for new adventures, on my WHV.
In Australia I've worked a few jobs at tourist parks based in nature (The Grampians, the Daintree, K'gari) and in between I did several Workaway's, getting to know the different areas and local people better.

Currently we are based in Auckland, which we're about to leave in the beginning of June to make our way to the South Island.

Carmen:
I am used to hard work, primitive living, isolated living in the bush.
With my experience as a physiotherapist I am used to help and guide people in any way I can.
I’m used to working together as a team but also not afraid to work solo.
In 2017, 2019 and currently I’ve spend months away from home volunteering for good causes.
Also I love to hike in the mountains. As a kid we’d go to the Swiss alps for the summer holiday to go and hike and I’m not afraid of multi day hikes like climbing Mount Kilimanjaro as I did in January 2022.

in Australia I've worked two jobs in tourist parks, both in housekeeping and in the shop behind the till.
currently I am working as a physio assistant and housekeeper in a Dutch Retirement home in Auckland

I spend my first weeks in New Zealand with Anne-Marie and Struan and I couldn't have been luckier. They have a beautiful garden in which I mostly helped them with weeding and pruning and during my off time they gave me the best recommendations of where to go and hike. I stayed with Ian for 3 weeks, helping him out in and around the house. I truly enjoyed my stay, Ian is good company and we've had plenty of good talks. While he was visiting his wife, I got to explore the island and he even lend me his car to make sure I could really experience the whole island, giving me the best of suggestions.

I was lucky enough to spend 3 weeks at this place with Natasa and my amazing fellow volunteers.
This is a truly amazing dog shelter and Natasa's passion is shown everywhere. The area is lovely and all dogs have everything they could possibly dream of (space, wonderful care, good food and medication), while looking for their forever home.
