  • Description

Hello, I'm Cara! Thank you for taking the time to read my profile! Here’s a little about me...

I’m 24 years old, from the UK and currently work as an Assistant House Mistress at a boarding school in North Yorkshire.

Before this, I spent a year solo-travelling around New Zealand on a Working Holiday Visa. I had the most incredible time and met so many amazing people through Workaway. Many hosts became like family and have since been to visit me in England. It was honestly one of the best decisions I ever made.

Now I’m hoping to explore more of Europe. I visited Berlin, Strasbourg and Tuscany whilst at school and stayed with my first host family in Denmark through Workaway in 2019. However, there is still so much I would love to see!

I have learnt how much more valuable immersing yourself in a culture and lifestyle is, rather than just visiting as a tourist. I am looking forward to making more connections with people across the world.

  • More details about your skills

*I have a lot of experience looking after children through my job, specialising in pastoral care.

*I have a good foundation in tourism and hospitality as my parents owned a guest house when I was younger.

*I was self-employed for a number of years during the pandemic, assisting small businesses with copywriting, branding and marketing.

*I worked as a housekeeper whilst at school.

*My Dad is a handyman and we’ve always renovated our houses, so I’m familiar the building trade. Although I’m no expert, my general knowledge is pretty good.

*I am competent with computers and tech. I also love photography and would be happy to put this to use wherever helpful.

*I can cook some good meals and have a basic range of dishes up my sleeve, but I’d love to have the opportunity to try some more adventurous recipes and hopefully learn from the people I stay with.

Overall I am genuinely willing to help with anything - whether that’s errands around the house, grocery shopping, cooking, looking after pets, being a big sister/nanny, or other projects - and even if it is something I’ve not done before, I am always ready to learn!

  • What else ...

Some extra stuff to know about me ...

I studied English Literature, Film Studies and Art-Textiles at Sixth Form so love the Arts. In particular, I am passionate about photography, writing and I am a big cinephile.

One of my favourite things to do is visit galleries or museums - they’re one of the places I feel most peaceful and I could happily walk around for hours looking at art.

I also love to go for walks and hikes, exploring nature and architecture with a camera.

I enjoy working with children and used to volunteer at a local charity which held holiday clubs for children with disabilities.

More than anything, I’m happy to chat to anyone and take a lot of comfort in learning about other people’s experiences and perspectives on the world.
