  • Description

Hello all! Thank you for taking the time to read through my profile :) My name is Caprice, I'm 24 from the South of England. I graduated from university in London in 2020 with a degree in Criminology and Sociology and I am currently working in Animal Assisted Therapy and Education. I adore my work with all of my heart, but I will be leaving in June to explore the USA, and Australia in September.

Animal assisted therapy involves working symbiotically animals to help facilitate therapy and therapeutic learning for young people with complex mental health needs. As a result of my work, I have experience working with a range of farm animals from goats to emus! I can competently complete animal care tasks such as health checks, feeding, grooming, paddock and stable care, handling, as well as general day to day farm tasks and maintenance.

I am most proficient in working with equines, spending much of my young life riding, volunteering with the Riding for the Disabled Association and being part of our equine team in my current job. I can confidently handle horses, and perform all necessary care tasks. I am a capable rider, although I much prefer ground work and care! All of my knowledge regarding equines and animals is purely experience based, I do not have any qualifications in these areas - it is learning process, and I am excited to further my knowledge and gain from different perspectives! :)

Additionally, I am experienced in working with children aged between 8 and 17, and have full up to date criminal records checks (DBS) and a range of training. I am knowledgeable in working with children with additional needs, however, this summer I will be working in Summer camp with neurotypical children to expand the breadth of my expertise in child care.

I am interested in meeting kind, friendly hosts who can show me their culture and new ways of thinking! I am an easy going positive person, open to all kinds of experiences - I love to try new things, especially food! I love the outdoors and anything animal related (obviously!), being in touch with nature is very important to me - I would love to meet people with the same values! Equally, I am up for experiencing city life for a change!

  • More details about your skills

As previously Mentioned I have experience working with a range of farm animals, to name a few - goats, sheep, cows, chickens, ducks, and donkeys! Additionally, I work with small animals including rabbits, guinea pigs, snakes, tortoises, lizards, and hedgehogs (however, I am less confident with the little guys!). The bulk of my animal care experience covers tasks such as feeding, health checking and handling. I am confident at completing general farm and maintenance tasks for instance, mucking out, field maintenance, and general cleaning.

Again, I am experienced in equine husbandry. I have worked with a range of horses, typically easy going experienced horses, but I have some experience with young green horses. I can confidently handle horses, and provide general stable management - i.e. stable maintenance, grooming, feeding, basic health care, tack cleaning, exercise and enrichment.

Aside from animal related skill, as formally mentioned I have professional experience and training in working with children. I love working with children, and would be happy to assist with any child care related tasks!

I can efficiently complete general house work tasks to a high standard, i.e. cooking, cleaning, washing up, laundry etc. I have professional experience carrying out such tasks from when I previously worked in residential care.

I greatly value health and fitness. I thoroughly enjoy healthy eating and exercise (I know that sounds crazy!). I spend a lot of time in the gym and preparing healthy balanced meals, although I have no professional experience or training in this field, if you are looking for a workout buddy or someone to help you keep on track with your diet, I believe I could be valuable to you!

  • What else ...

What I would love to learn and experience:

    - It is a childhood dream of mine to learn to surf! If you could teach, or help to facilitate this it would be amazing! I have tried before....but it looks like I may need a bit more help! ;P

    - I'm very interested in learning about gardening and cultivation. One day I would love to have my own sustainable garden!

    - Improving my equine knowledge, and handling skills would be amazing!

    - Western riding, and cowboy culture. I am fascinated by the American country lifestyle, particularly ranch life and country music!

    - Any new cultural experiences or alternative lifestyles!

A bit more about my hobbies and interests:

    - Anything and all things animal related! I love being around animals and forming bonds. In addition to my work, I have also volunteered with animal sanctuaries and charities.

    - Road trips and camping! Fairly new to this, but a couple of years ago I road tripped around the whole of the UK from the most northerly point in Scotland to the most southernly point in Cornwall! I spent the trip sleeping in the back of my car and wild camping!

    - Health and fitness
