Kia ora!
We are Brooke and Alex, a couple of five years from little Aotearoa New Zealand. We joined Workaway as we are curious and open-minded people who are seeking to embrace the different ways of being in the world while we travel. We welcome the opportunity Workaway offers to experience cultures from within communities in a reciprocal manner.
We are generally interested in the arts, the outdoors, history, social justice, and the pleasures of life: good food, good conversation, good music, good books.
We both have creative backgrounds - Brooke in fashion and design, working in manufacturing, fabric, and running her independent clothing line for a couple years. She has a special interest in artisanal skills and learning about sustainable materials and practises. Meanwhile, Alex has worked in the screen industry on commercials, documentaries, feature films and music videos. Following a move into working in libraries and art galleries, he now teaches English to high school students which he hopes to continue doing in Europe.

Alex is a high-school English teacher with a strong interest in grammar and language acquisition processes. English is his native language, he has an intermediate ability in French and Māori, and he would love to learn Portuguese or Greek.
