Description

We are Ben and Ciara, a couple in our late twenties from the beautiful west coast of Ireland. Ben works as a software developer and I'm a nurse, but at the start of this year we both made the decision to take year long career breaks and travel Southeast Asia.

We started our journey in Bangkok in March 2024 and we have since travelled through Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia and Indonesia. Six months and five countries later and we are back in Bangkok! We have returned here as it is one of our favourite cities and felt we didn't get the chance to properly explore it when we first arrived here from Ireland. We are also looking forward to taking some time to rest and take stock of this amazing journey that we have been on so far.

We joined Workaway a couple of months ago as we would like to volunteer and try to give back a little to the people that have been so good to us on our travels so far. In June, we spent one week teaching English in a remote village near Siem Reap in Cambodia. We taught young children ranging in ages between 5 and 12 who attend this NGO to learn English as it is not taught to them in their local school. Our week here was one of the highlights of our travels today. We hope to gain more experiences like this one!

Ben works as a software developer and so is extremely tech and computer-savy. He is a handy man and loves getting stuck into any DIY challenge.
I am creative and interested in interior design; skilled at sewing and crochet.
